I just thought I would tell all the Brisbane base members about an experience we just had.

After moving into the new house we found the yard invaded by cane toads both big and small. Knowing this was a problem I rang a guy I used to work with, Grant has a business called 'The Paw Man'. He came around this morning and in 20 minutes he had taught our 6 month old pup not to interact with the toads.

Now she shows total avoidance of toads and Grant taught us how to reinforce this training without using the remote training collar.

If you have a dog with a problem.........this guy is the solution.

No...........it doesn't, that means u have to be there all the time the dog is outside in order to deal with it..............train the dog to avoid is the best way.......any I see are collected, frozen and disposed off in the rubbish.

I thought most dogs hunt toads naturally? I'm guessing you were worried about your dog getting poisoined? I would think that most dogs would instinctively not eat the toads though.

apparently its not natural for them to hunt toads, the dog does not have to eat the toad, small breed dogs have died with the cane toad in their mouth. The dog will go for the toad out of curiosity.

The technique of avoidance means that even if the dog is not in the company of a family member outside it will still avoid the toad.

Even if the dog bites the toad it will still have problems.
Training is the best way and those toads have killed thousands of reptiles in australia

They sure have..........and I believe training is the only way.........UNLESS your yard is toad proof.

Now on that issue, does anyone know of a product one can use to toad proof the yard???...............after ideas.
