I would like to hear from the creator/owner of this site or anybody who knows about there things. Does this site or the previous site make money as a forum. I am thinking of starting a forum up (non-card related) and just wanted to know if this site made money. If it does how many members are there and how does it make money and how much. This could really help me out deciding on if I should make a forum up to finance card collecting
Also, Hill33, do you have any forums you own or make any money off the internet and if you do could I kindly ask the same above questions.
If you know the answers to these questions and dont wish to post it here then feel free to PM me.
Nah mate this site doesnt make money (as far as im aware) - but yes there is the potential to make money from website forums.
I do have a site that I have paying sponsors on. However, be aware it took me 5 years, travelling to different tournaments around Australia 10 times a year doing live scores, photos and videos from events (the first couple I even paid for myself to get off the ground) and the site now has 3000 odd members (with 1500 unique visitors a day) and I still dont make enough money to live off - its just enough to cover some costs etc etc.
Dont expect to put a website up and expect people to come and expect the bucks to come rolling in. Expect to put in a lot of hard work, and sometimes even that isnt enough. My other site was a unique chance I had that I took, and promoted the crap out of it, and its now ended up fairly successful.
There is the chance that this site could end up making some income from sponsors/supporters. Worst case scenario I could even see sponsors donating boxes for giveaways etc - this would come eventually when we grow a little bit more. It all takes time.
Hey Hill33. What hosting company did you place this site on. What are they charging and do you recommend them. Wasn't it you that donated a domain name and hosting.
