Well said, it is a sad fact of life that people break there word. What I have learnt from this is that from now on if I do a deal on a moderate to high end card I will NOT send the funds until I get the card in my hands. People may disagree with this COA but sh!t happens, I am sick and tired of paying for good cards are just bending over to take it up the proverbial and having people come back at me saying, its OK, he's a good bloke, well good people do bad things also.

Im with you Tak - its also a big pain in the ar#e (no pun intended) to have to deal with. So much better things to be doing with your time.

Dont forget you also have the option of COD with Australia Post.

I guess my point of view is that I wouldnt screw anyone, but if I died or was incapacitated somehow I would hope that my name wasnt tarnished.

I hope to god I haven't tarnished his good name but this member has lost my trust completly. I probably set the bar a little high in my expectations in my dealing with people, I remember a little while ago now that I was flat on my back incapacitated in a Hospital bed with no internet access but I still arranged for my wife to at least contact the people I was currently dealing with on eBay at the time to explain that due to health considerations I was unable to complete a particular transaction, that is just me I suppose.

With this transaction it is not even a great amount of money, its the fact that it is the second part to a sketch and it is the only card of its kind produced for the SWG6 series and the principle of the whole thing, we enter into an agreement and/or contract that in the scheme of things is very minor but they still can't keep a promise...............well that's it for me on this, gota let it go, I hope you are OK Shaun if you ever read this and nothing bad has befallen you or your family.

Has anyone who may live near Shaun bothered to pay a visit to Shauns address to see if he is there or find out what has happened.

Does anyone have his address at all. Didn't he get his cards sent to his Uncles place?

as a few people have said, it is not like shaun to just disappear without reason.
he's not the type of person to rip people off.

im sure some people would agree, there are alot more important things in life than than cards (im sorry to say, but you all know its true)
family and health definately pull rank.

unless the deal was for $100's or $1000's of dollars, i dont think you should be stressing. he will fix you up in the future im sure.

i would reserve judgement untill you know whats going on.

I agree with you that there are many things in life that are more important than collecting cards. But a deal is a deal, when you make a promise, you live up to it. What is the point of making a deal when the participant can just not honour it when he/she finds something more important to do. It is the principle that matters here because our forum is built upon trust and that trust has been abused and violated if a member is allowed to not honour deals. A lot of members got banned for a lot more minor offences.

Most of my close family live overseas and I have had to in the past drop everything and leave the country on a flight next day to deal with family deaths, so I could understand how other events in our real lifes could take the focus off this website for a length of time.

That being said, I hope your deal get's sorted out for you soon!

I live 2 mins away from him but I don't think it would be a very good idea for me to be knocking on his door.

Exactly, not a good idea at all and I would NEVER ask anyone to do that. As I have said before I am cranky, more so if he has just been slack but I worry something has happened. So I first wish that all is well and if everything is and Shaun returns to us then I will chew his head off..............

Please excuse the how blunt my next comment is but I think considering some of comments that have been left here so far (a bit extreme imo), It would be worthwhile swinging past. Its not difficult to be polite enough so that whoever answers the door wont be offended. Maybe you can just let them know that a few people were concerned about him on his favorite hobby site and you thought the right thing would be to touch base with him.

Internutz I don't like strange people coming to my place but it would be taken quite differently if I was unwell and someone came by. Surely there is a local who has met Shaun or been to his old place. If I was in the area and knew where he lived I would def check in on him

haha I have to agree though i think somebody should really check on him. Perhaps even a letter of concern via snail mail?

Doubt the letter of concern will work. If he's not replying on the net, why would he bother replying by snail mail?

i did a bit of internet snooping at work.. cos i really couldnt be ****ed to have a go.. lol

i found him on ebay and sent him a PM on ebay, as he received feedback early this month..
i know in one of his other posts after he was away for a while, he only had access in internet at work, which blocked OCT, but not ebay.

i'll see if he replies on eBay..

In this day and age, you can pretyy much get internet anywhere, home, work, mobile phones, free wireless @ McDonalds and for $1 or so at an internet cafe, so thats no excuse, only excuse i would cop is illness, death etc and maybe something i have not thought about....

I thought of that Jared, OCT has his ebay ID as bigman710, did a search for that and it comes up as an unknown ID.
