Got this in the mail a few days ago.. supposed to be one of the highlights of the week along with the jordan and lbj patches i posted but to tell you the truth i am pretty disappointed..

This is a 1/1 but for some reason it just doesn't feel like one. This is my first printing plate. Didn't know it just looked like this. I thought it would have been thicker or something

honestly.. do i keep this and have it graded or at least authenticated or do i just sell it? What do you guys think..

Surface marks kill any grade and grading ANY 1/1 is just pointless. No matter how good or bad its condition there is no other same card to compete with it anyway,.

What Chad said. Why grade a 1/1? I have a Herbert Hill 1/1 that was trashed in the mail, has creases all over it, but hey it's still the only 1 in the world creases or not!

If you're not happy with it, sell it. Surely you'll get $20 for a Brandon Roy Print Plate. Not sure what you thought you were getting? The picture pretty much gives the whole story!

not really grading to get a "1/1" but to have it slabbed up and maybe look a bit better.. but yeah, i guess i'd just sell this one. surface really not up to par with what i expected.. they really should make better 1/1s.. if it's the only one they'll produce might as well make it right. Thanks for the advices! I've learned my lesson no more plates haha

Ahha so you were expecting something manufactured to be a card and not a plate? Plates are simply 1/1 memorabilia for a collector to enjoy, not made to be anything more. Hence the surface and such are shoddy, yes, because it's meant to be a plate used to make the card. You got lucky though, some plates don't even have any cardboard frilly bits on them and simply have a sticker on the back telling you it's a plate 1/1!

Now those are ugly...but I like them for my PC guys :)

Quality of 99% of all Printing Plates is crap. Depending on who you ask, they're still a 1/1.

It's not as "good" as all other 1/1s out there (excluding plates).

Grading would be a no brainer, unless you were ok with receiving a **** score on surface, and edges, I wouldnt get it done.

What were you expecting when you bid on it? It's a printing plate, so a piece of aluminium used as a press plate for producing the original card. Not much else to it.

Some have been jazzed up a bit, and patches inserted, and stuff like that. But others are generally boring.

yeah i hear you.. i sorta thought it was a plate on a card but well set.. kinda like how they set up the patches or ball or whatver gu. but they kinda just leave it there like a piece of cardboard. anyway.. got new mail today so i'm pretty happy with the new ones. lucky i didn't hoard printing plates or i'd be pretty pissed lol
