Few questions on Hobby / Retail box with Sports (Basketball, NRL, AFL, NFL etc) and NON - Sports...

1.What is the difference, obviously $, but what others?

2.Do they make both Hobby / Retail for the same series?

Hobby:
- More Expensive.
- Less Packets Per box more per pack.
- Has More or Better Hits. (e.g autos, GU, Patches)

Retail:
- Cheaper.
- More packs per box less per pack.
- Less Hits or Different insert sets (eg product has 8 total insert sets. hobby has insert sets 1-4, retail has insert sets 5-8 ).
- May have parallel sets (eg normal is blue border parallel set might be gold border).

Blaster Box:
- Very cheap.
- More packs then hobby box less than retain box.
- Usually 1 hit max per box or none.
- Good for building base sets for poor people.
- May have parallel set hot packs (eg normal is blue border parallel set might be gold border).

There is a lot of variation from series to series and product line.

retail will either have no hits or the odds of getting an auto or gu are pretty high compared to a hobby box where you are guaranteed X # of hits per box. they will sometimes have retail exclusive hits.

retail/blaster boxes are the ones usually sold at supermarkets

not all have a retail release

I assume both are talking about Basketball series? I also assume Select who do the NRL / AFL their version would be the two series they do per year (or did) always include the Champions series which was cheaper and hardly any chase cards etc, that would be its "retail" version...
What about NON -Sports? I have not really noticed the Hobby / Retail scenario, but then again i have recently got into non-sport cards...

non sport does have some retail stuff, mainly topps.

with some of the star wars releases they have Target retail blaster boxes that had exclusive red sketch cards in them

i think longevity is sort of like a topps/topps chrome thing

they have R&S / R&S Longevity

GF4L response sounds more near the mark that mine

In NFL product, the R & S Longevity is a foil version of the normal R & S set. It's still a hobby product though...
