Did UPS prices go up?

Last time I ordered from dacardworld was 4th July and it was business as usual, about $40 to ship a couple of boxes via UPS Worldwide Saver.

Just went to place an order now and its $61 for Expedited (6 days) and $72 for Saver (3 days)!

And that's after a cut my order back to single box of 12/13 Panini Rookie Anthology, just to see where the starting point was.

Did I miss something?

(not to be confused with USPS... I know they increased their prices a few months back)

Tried tweeting the dacardworld account a few days ago, but still no response.

Just tried another dummy order with 1 box and its still asking the same prices for UPS shipping.

Is it just me?

I found an older invoice from May this year when I ordered 2 boxes of UFC Knockout 2013, a box of Marvel Beginnings II and 12 loose packs of 11/12 O-Pee-Chee and that was shipped by UPS Worldwide Saver for $33.95

Now I can't even get 1 box Panini Hockey Contenders shipped the same way for less than $71.

Just had a quick look, coming up with the following for me

ServiceCostDelivery
UPS Worldwide Expedited$31.950 Day
UPS Worldwide Saver$42.950 Day
USPS Priority Mail International$40.956 Days
USPS Express Mail International$53.953 Days

Cheers

Just tried it again with a Victorian street address and I got the same shipping prices as you

So I guess the issue is domestic, and the freight rates to Cairns just got jacked up immensely.

Contacted UPS on twitter and they directed me to an email address to provide further details.

Hopefully I can get an explanation, but I doubt it will change anything.

This pretty much kills off buying boxes for me. And I like busting boxes, especially since I'm one of the few (only?) here to regularly bust Hockey boxes. What I was paying to have 4 boxes shipped in 3 days would now only ship 1 box in 6 days.

EDIT:

Thank you for your email. I am unable to provide support for the pricing on international shipments via email. For the best resolution please contact our international customer service at 1-800 etc etc[/url]

I think its a problem on their end the same thing happened to me and when I tried again the next day, it was back to the normal prices of around $40 - $50 for UPS.

So the saga continues.

Tried the 1-800 number in their response, but it doesn't connect from Australia.

Tried calling the Australian Customer Service line - 181 UPS - however the operator I was forwarded to seemed unable to comprehend what I was asking, and essentially said they have no information.

Tweeted the UPSHelp account again, but they told me to respond to the previous email (which I have just done)

Emailed dacardworld at about 1:20pm yesterday asking if there is an error with their shipping calculator, however so far I've had no response.

And every day I've checked but dacardworld's website keeps asking me to pay a minimum of $72 for UPS Worldwide Saver.

Postage costs seem to have gone up with most companies when shipping out of the US to Australia. USPS bumped up their prices and it looks like most companies have followed suit.

Supporting local business and Buying locally might be the the cheaper way to go

The emails flowed last night, good thing I'm on a week off.

UPS emailed back again, with yet another generic handbook answer, saying the can't give intentional pricing over email and to use the quote calculator.

I reponded, saying I'm not asking for a price, just to know if shipping rates increased.

Finally got a halfway answer.

I'm sorry I didn't previously answer your question. UPS has rate changes once per year with the exception of fuel surcharges which fluctuate monthly. I would suggest contacting the store you are ordering from to see if they have changed their shipping prices.

So I tweeted the dacardworld account again, and they told me to email the webmaster address (I had previously used the service email). And I got these responses.

A few weeks ago we had an error with shipping rates being calculated incorrectly. I think this might be the same error. I'm looking into the error right now, and will let you know what I find out as soon as possible.

then later

I wish I had a better answer for you, but it would appear that the rate we show you is correct according to UPS. Using your address from a previous order, I just ran the rates for a 2 pound package declared at $100. UPS Worldwide Saver is $69.74 and UPS Worldwide Expedited is $58.98. These are our negotiated rates with UPS, which are a bit lower than the published UPS rates. We do include a small handling markup on our rates.

I also ran a 1 pound package declared at $80, which returned the same rates. Attached you will find a PDF of the UPS rate page. It would appear that something has changed on UPS's end. I'll try to contact our UPS representative to see if they have any insight into why there was a rate change for this address.

:(

Most businesses adjust for CPI on August 1, but even then its still such a dramatic increase.

Would love to, but its tough being an NHL collector. :ermm:

Totally understandable and the only reason I never get NHL in is my lack of NHL customers and knowledge :( If there is a particular product you can recommend that I can get in then just let me know. I might be able to offer you a better deal locally :)

Actually, I do have some NHL boxes. Elite and Anthology :)
