Dave Chappelle on Oprah

Went home for lunch and caught the last half hour of Oprahs interview with Dave....did anyone else see it??
Was it just me or was Dave still "not quite right"??

ken oath dude, the more dave talked and assured us he wasnt crazy, the more he looked crazy! he looked really sad some parts of the interview, and then would crack a funny joke, and then would ramble on about somethign and make absolutely no sense...i can understand why everyone thought he was losing it. it actually reminded me of an interview with micheal jackson, just some nonseniscal garbage spewing from his mouth.

oh well, im gonna miss you dave, you were a funny muther****er

Yeah...they showed footage of him organising a huge block party before he "lost it" and he was quick-witted and sharp...during the interview he showed glimpses of that razor sharp humour but the rest of the time he looked like there was no-one pulling the strings. (or if they were they were only pulling very slowly!!)

he seemed ok, just sad at times and maybe he was a bit depressed? I sure he was trying to make more of a serious discussion than anything else. he'll be back somewhere on our screens soon!

He up and left for Africa while filming 3rd season of chappelles show without telling anyone! Rumour spread that he went crazy, was depressed, went on a spiritual journey etc. Now he's back and explaining himself, and what happened! Thats the short version

Just adding to that a bit...the rumours also suggest he had been on drugs. He had also just signed a $50million contract and also has the highest selling DVD of a TV show ever. (more than Seinfeld, Sex and the City etc!!)

thats part of the reason why he got so pissed off and went AWOL , cos everwhere he went, everyone would be yelling "IM RICK JAMES BITCH!" at him.

Reading it at the moment, and have heard these rumours before. Think there might be some truth to this, but maybe not to the same extent, I'm sure these guys had somehting to do with Eddie Murphy "toning" down too, especially Cosby.

On Tuesday, while watching an episode of the Oprah Winfrey show, Chappelle recalled being completely stunned when Winfrey turned to the camera in the middle of interviewing Tom Cruise and said "Dave Chappelle, you should be ashamed of yourself for airing that Niggars sketch on your show this week, I'm going to make sure you never work in Hollywood again."

The image, allegedly taped by Winfrey, and transmitted to Chappelle's house under the direction of Robert L. Johnson who called in some favors with Chappelle's local affiliate station manager, terrified Chappelle.

These seems a bit over the top though!

anyone know what the real deal is with season 3? ive heard from some sources that dave bailed before they started anything on season 3, and some sources reckon he had done about half the season's skits before he walked, if its true i hope they release the unfinished season 3 on dvd.

I think they have enough material for almost half a season (six entire shows) which is a lot better than nothing.
