I was mucking around with Photoshop while watching the cricket and I made up a custom card for Australia's latest triple centurion.
Now its a pipe dream that a) i would be able to afford his baggy green, or b) if I did own it, I wouldnt cut it up for a card. But anyway here is what i would do if you disreagrd those first 2 items.
I thought I would call the set "Legends of the Baggy Green" cause I couldnt think of anything better and this card would contain a swatch of a baggy green cap. The name and border would be in foil.
This is only for fun so dont go mass producing these cards!
I like it mate, you could reposition the logos and turn the swatch area into a place for his autograph. They would look awesome , i wish i wasnt a photoshop retard, otherwise I would make stuff like this to send with my TTM requests.
Matt that is a magnificent custom card, if only this could become reality.....but cutting up a baggy green would have all the past and present greats in uproar - the ultimate blasphemy!!
Your custom only highlights how bad the card industry is in Australia - why do so many people love cricket yet cricket cards sell so poorly? It just makes no sense.....as kids we bought as many cricket stickers and cards as we could! is today's market so different to that of 20 years ago that Select can't justify a release at all?

I think i single handedly keep futera in business with their cricket cards releases. I must have gone through a few cases looking for a Bradman redemption (pulled it) or a border hologram (got one too) back in the early 90's.
I think the cricket cards could become big again as long as the advancement is there in the cards and that the cards evolve like they have in the US. it wouldnt take much to do.
Cheers
Matt

I might try a few more over the next week or so! Any suggestions?
I wish they could have done a Tony Grieg / David Hookes dual auto to celebrate the 5 fours Hookesy hit im the Centenary Test.
The Marsh / Lillee dual auto is still probably Futera's finest card ever produced.
Other cards I would love to see:
- Gatting / Warne "ball of the century" dual auto
- John Dyson classic catch auto (best catch ever growing up as a kid - everyone wanted to "do a John Dyson"!)
- Dean Jones 210* In Madras auto
- Border 1985 classic catch auto (second best catch I ever saw growing up behind Dyson)
And finally I'd love to see a "Wasim Akram WTF auto" commemorating the plumbest LBW in the HISTORY of Test cricket......given NOT OUT!!!!
Brian Lara 400*
Matthew Hayden 380
Gilly 100 off 57
Sachin 50 test 100s (100 international if he gets there)
Warne 708 wickets
Muralitharan 800 wickets
