I was able to head out to the Curtis Granderson basketball event last night. Thankfully I was able to bring another friend with me to this event. Overall the game was very entertaining but the autograph event post game was almost a total joke. I will share below after I share my results. Here are the results:
Curtis Granderson Basketball Charity Game 1/26/08
Willie Burton 6 cards (Who would of ever thought in my 3 years of graphing that I would be posting this name ever lol...man do I miss the NBA from the 1990s memories....)
Anthony Dirrell 1 3x5 Index card
Curtis Granderson 1 8x10 photo (Not even mine. I got this for someone else since that I have gotten him a couple times before.)
Courtney Hawkins 4 cards (He claims that he sees these cards all the time at his house. I am assuming he gets a ton of fan mail probably.)(2 of these go to a 50/50)
Desmond Howard 1 Beckett Football cover (A long story on this. While I was out and about on a weeknight getting some errands done, I called the friend that I did end up inviting to this event and he told me that his name was on the list. I never saw it on the list until he told me so luckily the next day, I went to the card shop here near the campus searched the magazine covers box, and found this cover. It was quite funny since that about 5 minutes later as I was checking out, another guy came in and was looking for Desmond Howard stuff. He had no clue where they were until after I got done searching the base cards. He was also after this exact cover that I just purchased but ended up getting a Packers mini helmet instead to try to get done for this event. Talk about a close call on getting a good item for him to possibly get done lol...I at least got my item done idk if he got his item done.)
and....
Dontrelle Willis 1 8x10 photo!!! (My first time finally getting him. Unfortunately, he did not do multiples at this event as I hoped. Security was everywhere that he went for this event and was enforcing one per everytime he signed as I will explain below.)
That is all I got result wise for this event.
Who I ended up getting pre game was Desmond Howard only. I almost got Braylon Edwards but he said he would get me after the show and that was a complete lie since that he was no where to be seen when the autograph event was going on. I was lied to by Braylon Edwards and that was disappointing.
Right after the game before my friend ended up securing a spot for me in the autograph line, I was able to snag Willie Burton and Courtney Hawkins. I could of gotten Willie Burton on some more cards but he told me where the autograph line was and hoped that I brought a friend with me to secure a spot in the autograph line since it was very long. As for the autograph line, he was right as it stretched all the way around the high school gym concourse. When I got up to the table, he was no where to be seen.
The autograph event post game was almost a joke. No Willie Burton, Courtney Hawkins, Braylon Edwards, Jeff Grayer, Desmond Howard, Andre Weathers. This is a game for charity advertised that they are all signing autographs post game. I still had items for them to get done.
When I finally got up to the autograph table, it was only Curtis Granderson and Dontrelle Willis signing autographs there!!! That was not to bad but I had to wait 2 hours to get them. I took off from this event after getting them but they were probably there still signing for another hour after I left. I would of tried to get multiples but there were 5 police officers there enforcing the one per person rule so I had no chance at multiples at all. I have to give props for these 2 players though for staying til everybody got something signed from them that wanted their autographs. If these 2 players are not on the top 10 best baseball signers, idk what to tell you. Both of these players are as good as advertised when it comes to signing.
Well as for this event, I say it went very well overall but the post game autograph thing was almost a disaster. I think they over sold the autograph tickets, and having only 2 players staying to sign autographs did not help matters as I assumed that everybody would of stayed. They should of better detailed the post game autograph event.
Alright that is all I have to share from this event. I am suppose to do the Lakers next but I will take a pass on them since that I got some school commitments that I will need to be attentative to for this week. I might do the Mavericks but since that the New England Patriots are in the Super Bowl, I will probably stay at home to watch the Super Bowl on tv and hopefully cheer my favorite NFL team the New England Patriots to victory!!! Otherwise thanks alot for looking!!!
Next up for me: No clue at this time...
