In our most controversial interview yet, Nick sits down with a new company that is offering CT Scanning services to look inside packs and cases of sports cards and pokemon cards. We tried to understand the ramifications that CAT Scans will have on the hobby.
Haven't watch this vid yet, but I remember seeing a similar vid a little while back. Guy bought a busted 20 year old CT scanner, a smaller one that was used for research, not for imaging people. Repaired it and used it to scan Pokémon and MtG packs to spot what the foils were because the outline of the foiling shows up on the scan.
It seemed massively impractical, but when there's a will there's a way.
Yes this is very controversial. Someone will have to make a change. Probably the card companies - who will have to do something tech wise like add in something to block the scanners - or as mentioned in the video, like a material that changes colour once it has been exposed to the scanning technology.
I reckon @Iron Clad Lou would love this scanning service.......he could still keep his boxes in his dungeon but know exactly what was in them and wouldn't have to open them!
