Apparently no short term plans, hopefully they go under meaning there are no long term plans either!
They don't listen or seem to care about what collectors want. They argue that there is no market for cricket cards....well yeah there is no market for the crap box set Ashes release they brought out last year, but if they gave us what we wanted then they would realize there definitely is a market for cricket cards in this country.
They produced a pretty solid effort in 2009/10 however I don't believe it sold well at all which appears to have been the last ditch effort by Select to get cricket to work. I doubt we will see anything from them in the future.
I've spoken to someone at Cricket Australia about this.
Select no longer have the license for the cricket cards. A new company has the rights, I don't know much about them but it seems that they will be bringing out a more high end based set rather than a mass produced series.
I actually spoke to the CEO of Futera (by email) yesterday and they have plans for an international set sometime next year however there are no plans to venture directly back into Australia. The set sounds pretty special.

Unfortunately that's what they've been saying for the last 2 years. Don't expect too much from them either.
I don't think they will be venturing back to Australia any time soon, from what I gather from retailers who were selling their products in the 1990's, many of them got ripped off when they went bust.
Select let the contract expire and never re-entered in negotiations as they said it was not profitable. Apparently Goldie marekting now hold SOME of the rights, i wasnt sure what SOME exactly meant and they( not select) would not ellaberate any further as they had mouith staple duties. They also said that there was likley to be another release later this year. SO to keep a long story shirt, Select no longer have cricket licence, some other company who wants to keep secrets now has it, not exactly promising. Ill see if i can find out some more info now its a bit further down the track.
Wish i was a multi millionaire. i would start my own card company, get the ACB and A-League card contract, start up threads here on oztrader, hire the dedicated collectors as advisors , listen to the collectors, bring out the best sets and put Select in there place. Walk into NRL and AFL headquaters, steal Selects contracts. Then buyout Select, fire all of them, bulldoze their headquaters.

Cricket cards are only a very small part of my collection but it is just so wrong that the Cricket card collector community has been left without any new product to collect for what will prob be a while now.
