Hi everyone just wanted to ask your thoughts on something. I bought a couple if signed cards off eBay which arrived to me creased. They where sent in a envelope with only a wafer thin bit of cardboard around them and some paper. I have asked the seller for a refund as they where poorly packaged but the seller says its not his fault & I'm being unreasonable by asking him to take the blame & wear the refund.
Thoughts on this? I said he should have sent in a top loader with padded bag. If he doesn't give full refund ill have to leave negative feedback.
What would you all do in this situation?
Cheers

People should always use bubble mailers and adequate protection. Standard envelope is a poor choice, if the way it was packed has led to the damage then you are entitled to a full refund. I sell a lot of cards on eBay and if i had this happen to a buyer id be all over it to fix the situation.

Yeah that's my thought too. Seller is saying he has sent heaps of cards the same way before without a problem so he shouldn't be blamed for someone at Aussie post damaging them. He must have been very lucky to have not had this happen before then.

100% agree. Whatever I sell on eBay insert wise goes in top loaders and a bubble mailer. Team or base sets go in team bags and a bubble mailer. I have had a few whinge about the $2.50 postage cost so if they request it I will send the card in a team bag and an envelope but put the onus on them. Common sense says that cards damage easy and should be sent well protected. I would let the seller know that if a refund isn't forthcoming they will get neg feedback. I bought a Shillington foil sig from 2010 the other week, looked fine in the photo but when it arrived was badly cornered. I didn't bother with the follow up as the card was really cheap.

it is the sellers responsibility to ensure the item arrives to you 100% as the way it left him/her. If he won't refund paypal - item not as described

I agree with Andrew. Start a Paypal dispute & communicate through Paypal, you will find the seller more helpful once his account is frozen.
Unfortunuatly you have to do this with unreasonable sellers.

I have recieved cards in a white envelope that were miracuously undamaged as the envelope has been torn and Australia Post have placed them in a plastic bag with an explanation of what's happened, I notice that some ebay sellers who charge top dollar for postage package the items in the cheapest way possible maximising their profit margins.

He had now messaged me asking me to send them back in the same packaging & he will "see where to go from there"
That still doesn't sound fair. I'm expected to send them back without the refund & just wait and see what he decides he wants to do??
Ill have to lodge a claim with PayPal

PayPal claim and neg feedback. These guys need to learn.

I had a clown charge me $7:70 postage on a single card. When it didn't show up I asked for the registered post number and he told me he didn't send it registered.

I then got the "I'm disabled in a wheelchair and on a pension" story. Unfortunately his email address was a work email address that lead me to find a a picture of him on his work website (standing up of course!).

No pity for some sellers. Take him to the cleaners.

People complain about $2.50 postage??? I'm not sure how they're affording to buy food if a $2.50 postage charge is bugging them!

Owen, I think you should name & shame the Ebay seller who is 'disabled in a wheelchair & on a pension'!

Don't send back. Make a PayPal claim. PayPal recommend to try and sort it out with the seller first, and it sounds like he doesn't want to help. I wouldn't even bother messaging him again. Straight to a PayPal dispute and send them back once you get your money!

WOW is this what society has become.... Claiming to be disabled for $7.70 what a tip rat, hope you gave him a neg.

I have received a "poor" rating for postage charges by someone who purchased off me. I cannot see which transaction it was, but i actually charge less than it actually costs for postage for full base sets, and for individual team sets i charge exactly what it costs to post, i even have a set of scales and cross-reference with the Australia Post website!

I Received a card of ebay a few weeks back.... got charged $4.50 for postage, It turned up in a standard envelope with a 60c stamp on it with no penny sleeve no cardboard around it just the card.
It was just blind luck the card was ok.
Unrelated but i have found another prob with aust post lately, registered tracking numbers are frequently coming up with no results... when number is checked on the aust post website.
I was under the impression that this was what registered mail is for so you can track its progress.
Has anybody else experienced this with aust post.

This has been a problem for me before, i always thought it was just the Aus Post staff not scanning the labels when they were supposed to.

A lot of the times the only data i can get from the tracking system is the moment it was delivered. But then again sometimes it shows everything.

You have to insist that they scan the item when you drop it off. They don't like doing it but I always tell them I need it scanned because I have to prove I posted it today & they always do it.

Ppal and neg. Even if sent in an envelope it can quite easily be protected between cardboard.

I recently had a lowball offer on a case of cards that were to be used for activity for disabled kids. With the Mrs in education and having a hunch myself I outed the guy knowing that no educational institution in the country would sanction the use of these. It's disgusting that ppl use disability for their own gain

All reg post must be filled out with a form these days I have sent reg post just by putting them in a box as I was informed by the teller at aust post. This unfortunately could not be tracked untill it arrived at the post office of destination.
