Has anyone seen the crazy bids on eBay on the Slater & Smith Storm common traders cards?? The seller must be loving it lol

Yeah I saw them... Had to look twice... Wasn't even the foil versions!! If they were the 09 scanlens MAYBE.. Lol........

That's shocking.. There should be a law against this.. Robs collectors the opportunity of getting a decent sig for their pc..

In the end it all comes down to how much someone wants it in their collection...

I wouldn't pay heaps for cowboys signed cards.... But on the "right" cards I'd consider it.... I don't make games much and it's usually pure luck that I end up getting some of the cowboys sigs I do........ But in circumstances where I can't get them... Alot of others can..

I know there are alot of people against buying and selling signatures here... But I'm all for it... My guess is if anyone here was the "seller" of that card they would think it was great.. They wouldn't be saying "well how about I knock off $60"....

There's been a dicussion recently regarding players signatures and it's pretty hard not to go along with with the players perspective.
While the majority of fans will get just their basic requirements fulfilled there are those professional signature seekers who are doing their best to ruin it for everyone.
Things have changed greatly in recent years and it now appears that players are becoming far more aware of what a signature can bring and they are now aware of their 'intellectual rights'.
While I'm in no position for my sig to be worth anything it won't be long before players refuse to sign anything unless there's something in it for them.
According to other forumers we have the case of adults sending their children into the front line to get ther sigs!, it's not the trenches so don't put the kids out there.
I'm from the other side of the Great Dividing Range and am not that much of a fan of Signed cards but can see how Sig Pigs can ruin it for the every day collector.

Was talking to a mate from the US about this recently and he thought it was funny that we (Aussies) had no concept of having to pay a sports star for an autograph.

Said you pretty much not getting one without paying for it. I think it will end up like that here at some stage with all these sig pigs going around which is a pity.

I spoke to one of the cowboys one day while waiting for a plane. He said as a player it's great to have fans. It's just sometimes he doesn't want to sign the million cards that get handed to him by one person. He said if I don't sign them, will they bag me out? Will they no longer be a fan of mine? And he ended it with "I don't want to take that risk"...

It was great to walk away from that conversation and see their point of view......

It is sad that sig pigs may end up ruining it for us collectors :(
If it does get to the stage where clubs tell players too not sign anything it will be bad but if they allow collectors to pay to have out cards signed at a fair price I'd be more then ok with paying for it. Especially if the money goes to helping the club just like being a paying member it helps the club you support.
In saying all that though I'd still prefer to be able to get my collection done myself for free lol

Anyone see the two Eels traders cards go for $31 each?? A Hayne & Maitua commons. WTF?? Am I missing something? Why are some selling so high? One if them was won buy someone with heaps of feedback so I would think he/she would know a commons value
