Just reported here in Perth that the West Coast Eagles have SACKED Ben Cousins !!!

Nothing we didn't expect but I am still p*ssed off !!!

We have now lost Judd & Cousins, I won't be expecting a Top 4 Finish next year

Here is some more info from footygoss.com.au:

Yesterdayâ€™s dramatic events in Northbridge involving former West Coast captain Ben Cousins and separately, veteran Daniel Chick, have taken another twist on Wednesday with a 33-year-old male passenger who was with Chick, facing charges after searches on separate premises.

Police seized prohibited substances at the various premises with the 33-year-old-man forced to appear in court on Monday.

It is believed the 33-year-old man is not in any way connected to the Eagles.

Cousins was arrested yesterday and charged with possessing a prohibited drug and failing to comply with a requirement to undergo a blood test.

Chick was arrested yesterday in a separate incident, but was later released without charge.

Be interesting to see if the AFL prohibits him from playing next season (ie. will he be allowed to nominate for the pre-season draft). Surely, no one would even consider taking him. The Eagles are denying any evidence or knowledge of him passing a drug test after the Mainwaring death. Toxicology reports showed cocaine, ecstasy and pot in Mainwaring's system - wonder where he got them from? :shock:

The AFL has to de-register him; the negative press they will receive over this with their (IMO) lax drug testing system will force them to ban Cousins and scrap their drug testing system... It will interesting to see what happens Cousins now.

Well some say this is long time in coming. I just hope players at other clubs including my own take the hint that they are risking their careers by stuffing around with drugs.

6 months to late in my opinion.

The club finally made a decision and demonstrated that the individual is neither bigger then the club or the game.

Deregistration and a lifetime ban would be the best demonstration that both the club and the AFL as a whole will not tolerate this type of activity.

Apparently whilst Chick was not charged his passenger in a vehicle was charged with a number of derug related offenses.

This is not the case of a misguided or troubled individual, it is a case clearly of an individual who believes he is bigger then the game and his football club by repeatedly breaking guidelines he himself agreed.

And in reality the game itself is far better off with people of the character of Ben Cousins not being within it.
