Just heard on the radio, Ben Cousins has been arrested in East Perth.

Also apparently 1 other Eagle may have been arrested, but no name released yet.

Interesting!

Trouble just follows some people ... watch the media circus that follows!

Some poor bugger will get shot; John Howard will reduce income tax by 10% to win your votes ... but Cousins will get the first fifteen minutes of the six o'clock news (in WA, at least)!

Ben Cousins arrested in Perth: reports
Troubled West Coast Eagles star Ben Cousins has been arrested after police searched his car in Perth today, witnesses said.

Nine Network reporter Grant Taylor told Southern Cross radio he saw Cousins being handcuffed and put in a police car in Aberdeen Street at East Perth.

He said a second West Coast player was also being interviewed.

Cousins was shirtless and grinning as he was led away, Taylor said. ABC Radio said the footballer was being interviewed at East Perth police station.

The AFL club said earlier they knew nothing of the incident.

"I'm not sure if he's even in the country, he's on leave," the spokesman said.

Taylor said police conducted a thorough search of Cousins and his vehicle on the roadside. He said a young woman was also in the car.

"Just a short while ago police have taken Ben Cousins away, handcuffed, shirtless, into custody, taken him away for questioning after stopping him and a young woman in his car on Aberdeen St," Taylor told Southern Cross at 1530 AEST.

"We also understand that police are also questioning another man, there's a rumour that that other man could be a current member of the West Coast Eagles."

Cousins has never tested positive to illicit drugs but flew to the United States for rehabilitation earlier this year and apologised for his conduct.

He returned to play for the club on a number of conditions, believed to include a zero tolerance clause to testing positive to banned substances, staying away from underworld figures and not falling foul of the law.

Cousins, a former skipper of the club, was with Eagles legend Chris Mainwaring hours before he died earlier this month.

Further comment is being sought from WA Police and the West Coast Eagles.

The end of the Eagles is near....The Dockers shall rise above and be the premier football team in Perth within 18 months....and sadly due to the Eagles managements constant willingness to cover and protect the ass of its high profile players it is just a case of the club getting its just desserts...

Chick is one Ben's best mates. All I can say is I hope it was a mistake or a big misunderstanding! They said it'll all ve cleared up by this evening so we should hear about it on the news tonight.

From news reports he was charged with being in possession of an illegal substance and refusing a blood test.

Chick was apparently released without charge.

I would love to see the spin placed on this by the WCE administration, but in combination with the association with the Mainwaring incident, Cousins career and his image would see to be murky and all but over.

It could be he lapsed because of what happened to Mainy.......either way his AFL career could be over !

Oh please....he was reported to have been the apparent attempted saviour for Mainwaring on the evening of his untimely death. How does that translate to him having a relapse?

Now he has a potential excuse for his drug habit?

Even perhaps a justification?

Perhaps he needed to ensure he wasnt in an enviroment which would have allowed for his habitual tendencies to be questioned.

The Eagles have worn and will continue to wear the stigma of this for years to come, and sadly many a good man, with a good and honest reputation, dutifully earned over time will be tarnished by the likes of Cousins, Gardiner, Kerr and Fletcher and the social activities they have undertaken in recent seasons.

Perhaps the Eagles should've shopped Cousins last week, and got whatever they could've from some poor unsuspecting club....

The wrong guy from the clubs perspective left town last week....

However the same guy who wisely did so clearly made the best choice for his career, reputation and image.
