Could use some help with these please

Thanks for looking,

I know this is the NRL section but some of you collect AFL as well so i thought i would put pics up of some cards in the hope that some one on here may be able to tell how old they are and if they are worth anything?

i have 4 VFL? and 1 Union card to show

any input would be appreciated

Hey Dave, I would chance to assume they are the same as the league Allens cards from the mid 20's...
They are in great nick.
I have seen the league ones go from anywhere between $100-$250
Being AFL and in such good condition.... You may have a jackpot there!!

Thanks Mate, i have had them for about 4 yrs or so and thought nothing of them until now when i was clearing some stuff up but if you ar right i am one very happy man...

1925 Allen’s
• Rugby League & Soccer set of 54, Rugby League Consists of 28

probably send it over to the AFL section, see if they know....

1933 Allens McLaughlin South Melbourne Swans VFL / AFL Football Card | eBay

Here's some on ebay Dave.

Allens, being a Melbourne company, made quite few VFL sets over the years. They only made one set for RL in 1925 but even then it was a mix of Rugby League players and Soccer players in the set.

Not quite the jackpot but some nice cards to pull out of the cupboard.

Its a cigarette card. Cant give you the exact year but i think its 1927.

I know some people at the Cartophilic Society of New Zealand. Will send them an email to see what they know about the set.

The cigs cards were actually quite popular.. And for some reason unknown they seem to be still easily accessible (considering their age).. I know with the cricket ones they sell pretty cheap (again considering their age).. I managed to pick up three complete cricket sets from 1930-1940 (can't remember exact years) at not bad prices.. And in a really good condition.. They have bradman in them.. And.. I thought that was pretty cool..

Depends bud.. I usually see them sell around the $100 mark.. Depends on how much someone really wants the card..

yes its funny how the things that are so old yet they are still found regularly
