I've been considering changing my Ebay ID (and therefore Ozcards etc) for a few months now, but have been hesitant because I have built up a reputation with that name.

I have been using it since June 25th 2004. Prior to that I was mafman74 for 4 years.

I mainly want to change because there are so many other Ebay sellers also using "Allstar" in their ID's...so I want to differentiate myself a bit.

I'm interested in some serious feedback here....do people think it's worth doing or am I wasting the reputation I have built up with Allstar_cards_inc??

depends if you think you've built a good name around the name you already have , if this is the case why undo the good work?

Well it wouldn't make much difference here, since everyone would know why. And i think most buyers look at feedback so it would be a big issue. If you have some regular buyers on the bay you could always add a message to them next time they make a purchase and explain that you are about to change. Its better than being mistaken for a dodgy seller.

Not sure.

Depends if your new name will be unique and so you will keep it for a long time and build your reputation from that.

You will always have customers who have known you in the past.

On your auctions, you can always say "Previously know as" on the top of the auction.

If they search your old name, they will be directed to your new name anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

Ersk

Yeah I see where you are coming from... I actually have to double check your name to make sure it is you now with all those similar names floating around :)

Doesn't Ebay allow sellers to change their name but keep their feedback?
I am pretty sure I have seen that happen?

It is a tough question mate :)

Yep, you keep your feedback rating and all your purchasing/selling history.

People will know it's you still, there will be an icon next to your name stating it has been changed within the last 30 days.

I don't see a problem changing your name, your buyers will know it's you and as someone said you could contact your regular customers and notify them of the change.

I would keep the same name mate as I would be turned of by someone changing there name as I would think they have done something dodgy and they are trying to hide something. Thats just me though.

What about Pulpmillpoweplanthicksvilecards inc???

Powerplant has a T in it

And Thicksville should have TWO L's....

As for the name change, up to you man, I hear what you're saying about the reference to "All star" or similar.

You need something that separates you from the rest (if that's what you seek).

Good luck with it.

Good ol mavs. Didn't see in my haste that its....hicksville and not Thicksville and missed out entirely seeing I left out the R in power LMAO

But well done anyway. Now Marcus can get it right when he goes about changing it!

Perhaps if you added to your name to give you the uniqueness without losing your current identity and reputation? I tend to agree with 'wannabe all stars' above in I would think someone whom has changed their name might have done the dodge.
