Nice PC, Leon was one of my fave players. When I was living on the Gold Coast I was lucky enough to watch him in a few games against the then Gold Coast Rollers. Had a friend working at the hotel the Sydney Kings were staying at and the following day I waited in the lobby and asked him to sign all my cards, I remember being thrilled and how he was such a down to earth guy.

Here's some of the cards I had him sign.

Love them all together!

Aronzo, those are some super clean autos too

Makes me want to post the Neon Leon scene from the 36ers doco I made, Title Town. Lol.

Ive been saying it for years, but Id love to see Select bring NBL cards back into the game. They make great footy cards, and I think the demand for NBL is finally back, especially over in Perth.

If they brought NBL cards out again, I would chase the entire master set.

Nice stuff mate. Futera really made some nice inserts and it is awesome they were all serial numbered.

I agree, if NBL cards came back I would be stoked!

Neon Leon - now there;s a guy who played above the rim! Excitement machine!

The issue I see with bringing out an NBL set now is generally people don't know the players, not like in the 90's where I knew every single player from the Brisbane Bullets and knew most of the players from other teams most notably the marquee players. And imports stayed a long time so you ended up cheering for your favorite players each season. Now it's like who are most of these guys and imports come and go after one season.

I'd love to see the NBL do a better job marketing the local crop of players, like player profiles during NBL games so at least people watching can learn who these guys are and get to know them and get back into the sport. If Select released a set now I wouldn't know who most of these guys are so hence I wouldn't be motivated to buy. Don't get me wrong, there is lots of potential to create a stronger brand for the NBL and market its players so the sales can be successful and a viable product to spend money on.

Let's say if a set was released and they incorporated a auto set of the Legends like Gaze, D-Mac, Loggins etc I'd be all over that in a second! haha

And yes PLS post your Leon Neon doco!!

Freakin sweet Neon Leon collection! I still remember how elated I felt when I pulled his "Instant Impact" card from a newsagent pack as a kid

Aronzo33; those IP auto are sick!! Thanks for showing

That may be true with casual fans of the NBL, but true NBL fans are pretty knowledgeable on the league mate.

Between websites like OzHoops and a few fan based sites and social media, it isn't difficult to follow the league and players, even with imports coming and going each year.

Little update

I have found out im actually missing two cards of Leon

1st one was the 1995 Uncle Tobys Pop Out. Managed to trace one down. Not easy to find

The 2nd card im missing which i have never seen is the 1994 THIN CHIPS AUTO CARDS #'d to 334. I doubt i will ever see one.
