COMP help needed!!!

Okay so I invested in a 128meg graphics card.... we plug it in and nothin happens... so we tried a bunch of things and nuthin.... i take my system around to a mates to upgrade power supply (as another option) couldn't do that but we plugged the other monitor of my mates mothers in and it came to life so I am thinking you beauty!!!

Bring it home and it just will not register with my monitor....

nothing I have tried will get it to work so now I am back to my onboard.... wtf can the issue be???

With the Graphics card, where are you plugging the monitor in to? The Graphics card, or original monitor port?

EDIT:
Does the PC pickup the new Card upon system startup (F1 perhaps, go into Setup).

If it's firing up your mates monitor but not yours, the problem is with the monitor, not the video card.

haha scotty not that dumb....

its working now!

All i did was unplug the network cable (which had already been done previously anyway)

and adjust a setting on the monitor "H" when i rebooted.... it wasn't picking up the onboard..... so I decided what the hell i'll try the graphics card again, but instead of turning it off and switching it over like i normally do... I just switched it over... then rebooted... and it picked it up....

if any of that actually makes sense please let me know cos I would love to know how I friggin managed it.....

yeah no sense... unfortunately when I woke up this morning and switched the monitor back on and moved the mouse to bring the system outta hibernation (actually was merely standby).... it wouldn't work... and I'm back to using my onboard.... and still not sure if its the monitor or card thats fugged/incompatible.....

its so incredibly frustrating.....
