My heart goes out to all the people of Christchurch, so sad..
All of my family is from Christchurch and they're all shaken, this is the worst they have had. Is anyone on here from Christchurch or near abouts?
Death toll is currently at 65

Hey Jacko

Christchurch was where i lived for 24 of my 25 years and all my family and alot of my friends are still there thankfully everyone i know is ok apart from being a little on edge as apparently there is still another big 1 predicted by the "experts" to hit late march.

Im not sure if there are any CHCH members on the site but if there are i hope they are ok and to all the other kiwis and aussies here that have friends and family in Christchurch and the Canterbury area hope they are all safe aswell

I hope everybody is alright. I went to NZ in 2009 and stayed in Christchurch for 3 nights and had a ball. Hopefully everything works out well in the end. Thankfully the death toll is still only 65.

Yeah man this is terrible stuff. My company (Fairfax) has (or rather HAD) the Press building in Christchurch, heard today that one person has died and apparently more are missing. It's all extremely sad stuff, I've donated to Red Cross and hopefully so will lots of other people so we can do our best to help them. This is seriously NZ's own 9/11 but done by mother nature.

I'm with you Nick. I have an awful feeling that there is more to come. A local weather expert has predicted a massive shake towards the end of March. Lets hope he got his months wrong!!!!

just finished helping here in qld with the floods if i had a passport id head to nz with the rest of my mates.
i hope all friends and families are safe and i hope that toll doesnt rise but it dosent look like it will stay low

A truly awful week here in NZ. The support from all over the world has been amazing. it looks like the toll will rise towards 300, some of the stories are downright heartbreaking - especially if you have your own kids.
Sometimes life just isn't fair.
