Hey guys...... I got a cheque from a company & I was wondering if anybody knew if there was any way to cash it instantly?
My mate told me that in the US that if you take it to the same bank it was issued by (Westpac) then they will charge you like $6 fee or something but cash it straight away..... can you do that here?
I know of those pay-day loan type places that do this but they generally charge an arm & a leg to do it.
That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I really need the money now & not in 3 days.... probably won't be Monday or Tuesday before it comes through with today being Wednesday. Really need it sooner than that.
I don't mind paying a %..... just not something ludicrous.
The only way you can cash a cheque is from the issuing bank and branch where account is held and that is conditional on it being made out to cash and not crossed. Even though it is made out to cash you still require ID.
Ok..... I just spoke with the banks. Westpac said that I could come in there & cash it & get the cash right away as long as it didn't have "not-negotiable" on it...... which it does.
My bank (St. George) said you could pay $16 for a special clearance (which I have no problem doing) & it could clear tomorrow; however there is no guarantee that they will receive a reply back faster than normal.
Thanks Chris...... I actually went out to them today but they declined my cheque. Didn't give me a reason..... same with another place in the city. Waste of my bloody time
