Hello COMC Nation,

I hope you all enjoyed the special edition we ran last week on April 1st. I had one person tell me it was a literary masterpiece, but as he is related to me, he might be biased. Today we return to the standard format of Check Out Your Cards, our weekly post where I sit down with a member of our staff and talk about some of the great cards they have seen on our site. I spoke to Greg from our ID team. He wanted to share some more fantastic finds, as well as a card mystery that he has been puzzling over for more than a year.

2008-09 Exquisite Collection NBA All Access Triple NBA Logo #TRIP-MBR Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, O.J. Mayo

The 2008-09 Exquisite cards did not disappoint when it came to showcasing great players. Although O.J. Mayo sounds like two of the ingredients in the worst smoothie ever, the three players on this card were the number 1, 2, and 3 NBA draft picks of 2008. You can see why a card like this would catch Greg’s eye.

2008-09 Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs #DLOG-NK Jason Kidd, Steve Nash

Greg has already admitted his bias towards Logoman cards. There’s a real thrill in the quest to own, or even find these cards. On this particular card you have Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, contenders for best point guard to ever play the game. As a side note, I remember the time spent trying to unlock Jason Kidd in NBA Jam TE.

2013-14 Panini Preferred 2013 NBA Finals Memorabilia Booklet Prime #4 LeBron James

We are getting closer to the center of our mystery with this LeBron James card. Being an amazing booklet with a humongous patch, there is just one thing that could make this card better – an autograph. However, you might have noticed that newer LeBron cards will either have him in his uniform, or with a signature, but not both. LeBron has an exclusive contract with Upper Deck, and they are the only ones who are able to have his signature on a licensed card. However, UD is no longer licensed to show NBA uniforms. That is what brings us to the below unicorn of a card, so rare that, even after time spent deep in research, Greg is baffled.

2012-13 Fleer Retro Autographs #NoN LeBron James

This is a card that should not be. LeBron in a Heat uniform with a signature. While we’re not an authenticating company, that is an amazing autograph. Greg was telling me about how he remembered seeing this card years ago, and when I was telling him about my plan for COYC, he went back on a search for whatever he could find about this card. It came in through our Mailbox service and was shipped out to a very, very lucky fan. If anyone knows more about this card, please email us at staff@comc.com.

Thank you everyone, and have a great weekend!
