The Houston Rockets have declined to pick up the team option on Chandler Parsons contract, making him a restricted free agent. I'm so confused with this move, has Darryl Morrey not learned anything from watching Carlos Boozer leave Cleveland for Utah? Or Jeremy Lin? Or Omar Asik? The difference being that Parsons will be highly sought after AND big market teams are under the salary cap!! Bad move!!
He's the most under rated player in the league based on his current contract. You'd want to hope New York, LA Lakers, etc don't offer him big dollars (lol... and modelling opportunities!)
oh for sure. I see pros and cons in it now that Ive let it sink in.
Pro:
Means he is not unrestricted next summer
Longer Contract to keep him from becoming unrestricted
Possible Trade Chip for Kevin Love by signing a large deal
Keeps money off the books until after they've had a chance to land a big fish
Cons:
Crazy offer about to be thrown at him - early reports suggest they'd be over $12-$13million a year
Other markets can offer much better ambassador roles / modelling opportunities
Much harder to sign a quality Free Agent once he inks a deal due to remaining cap space
all part of their strategy so they can sign another max player like Love, melo and keep parsons, they should trade dwight for Love and change..keep asik that would be a good team
