I am preparing to send in some more cards for grading and (as per PSA Guidelines) need some Cardsavers which I was going to order thru Colin at nwcardsupplies. I think they come in packets of 100 and I really only need 20 of EACH size ... anyone else need any and want to split the order with me???
cardsavers are a thinner plastic holder then a toploader, cardsavers have the small tab on the back side that sticks up higher then the front, some guys put price stickers on the tab
psa and bgs prefer cardsavers for grading submission since it is easier for them to remove your card with out damaging it,
hope that helps
Fire ... they are a cheap flimsy, crappy form of holder that the PSA ( www.psacard.com ) grading company insists that you send your cards to them in.
Most people don't use them (from what I hear) ... toploaders are better for sending cards, but PSA argues that they allow some movement within the holder, and therefore risk of damage to the card. There are quite a few threads on both grading and types of holders; shout out if you need help finding them.
Card savers are shit, no rigidity in them at all, mind you if I were sending cards to be graded I'd put them in a box not an envelope in which case it wouldn't be so bad.
How is it easier to get a card out of a card saver than a one touch i ask you!
I too am interested in BGS submission process if anyone has done it from AUS

Actually I do believe card savers are better to store in for sending if keeping their condition is impeccable (as it is when grading).... the cardsaver can be opened out wide enough that they can reach in & pull it out - can't exactly do that with a top loader & have to use the "bang against palm" technique..
I sent some cards in a few years back now (to BGS) & it's best if you do it with a few other people as it gets expensive - fast!! There is the shipping cost, insurance cost, grading cost (which gets cheaper the more cards you get graded), postage back cost & also the insurance back cost - I believe when we had it done we got about 8 cards graded & it all worked out to a cost of about $35 - $40/card with everything.
Check the Beckett website for complete details, but they now do ship direct back to Australia, so there is no need for you to have a contact in the US to grade with them.
First thing to do is either use the online submission form or print out the submission form from their website and fill it out with payment details etc. Be sure to include the amount for return shipping to Australia, which should be listed on their website or on the form (I haven't seen the form recently so im not sure)
What you need to do is pack your cards up with a copy of the submission form (preferably in card savers as per above posts) and tape the cardsavers in between two bits of cardboard (be careful not to put too much stress on the cardboard - just enough to make sure the cardsavers aren't going to fly around). Cardsavers are used because - well - that's what the grading companies want. They both say they accept no responsibility for cards sent in any other holders (BGS don't take responsibility full stop - but that's for another story). I then put them into another box and pad them with newspaper or similar material. Then pay for shipping to the US with Insurance - the amount of insurance is up to you. If the cards arent very expensive I will just insure for $100 - this is enough to give you a tracking number so you can see where your parcel is online.
Once received at BGS they will normally send you an email to confirm receipt. Then after the cards have been graded, they will send you another email to confirm they have been graded. Theyw ill then ship them back to you via Registered Mail (I know PSA does, cant confirm if BGS does) and you will get them delivered to you.
The old process where you had to pay for FedEX delivery back to Australia is long gone. Depending on the service level used, it can be done a lot more cheaper than you think.
After saying all that, I wouldnt use BGS if you paid me (search for other threads here). In my opinion PSA is the way to go.
They really arent that bad - i've sent so many PSA submissions with card savers and never had a problem with damage. I have taken to sending submissions to PSA in the boxes they send the graded cards back to you in - they fit really well and if you use a bit of padding (folded up paper - the submission form helps in this) then the cards are very well protected.
