On the surface, basketball trading cards and tie-dye anything (with the possible exception of a Bill Walton tribute set) seem like completely incompatible assets. But then along comes Panini America’s 2014-15 Select Basketball to swat that notion into the cheap seats. Ultimately, with the help of a little Prizm technology, tie-dye does work on hoops trading cards — magnificently so as a matter of fact.

Truth be told, we’ve been gushing about the simply sublime Tie-Dye Prizm parallels in 2014-15 Select Basketball for a couple of weeks now. But the product’s release last Friday has given collectors six days now to see the magic for themselves. Poems have been written about them. Drool has been dropped. Veteran collectors have fallen in love all over again. All because of tie-dye.

But before we put the powerfully pastel Prizms behind us and start focusing on upcoming new releases, we wanted to take one more opportunity to appreciate their true beauty. In the gallery below, we present a thorough appreciation of the Select Swatches Prime insert featuring some sick patches and downright epidemic levels of Tie-Dye.

Enjoy . . .
