No, not a Bruce Springsteen classic, just wondering if people knew of any good sports card shops in LA or Chicago. I'm heading state-side late November-early December so it would be a good opportunity to pick up a couple of items. Any ideas, lists of shops etc? Had a quick search but not found anything even remotely comprehensive.

P.S. Hey, who the hell messed around with my avatar???? Chaddles!

What avatar?? Oh that one. :-) I think I remember seeing that sign at 447 Collins in the Melb CBD ;-)

The Bro would be able to help you out with info on that as he did the whole card shop thing in LA and Pooc for the Chicago ones jetsetter!

From memory though he was disapointed with all really and the lack of stuff they had. The LA one boast the biggest invetory in the world and he pictured endless boxes of commons from every year but it wasn't the case. He didn't buy very much at all in the way of cards from memory.

Boxes shouldn't be a problem but singles are tougher. Try to see if a Frank and Sons show is on in the area at the time. Ryan may be able to help you out with more up to date info as he goes there and the bay area a lot to get stuff. I'll fire off an email to the yank now.

Charm City Cards is in LA, ive had some boxes ordered in from them, they seem to have pretty good prices

nevermind they are in Maryland, its GamesandCards.com thats in LA and they arent that cheap...sorry

I went to a cool card shop in Anaheim....I'll look the name up for you !

Not exactly LA but if your out that way you may as well catch a train (45min) to Anaheim and go to Disneyland (lol)

hey mate

dont know where you are going in Chicago, I been to a couple of places in Naperville, which is about 40 mins from downtown.

or

on the site they say they have over 500,00 singles....

they is another one called, Dean's Dugout which is down the road, this is a smaller store runned by a uni professor as a side hobby with his wife.... they target little kiddies, but if you getting packs, it is better cos the environment is much more relaxed & they treat u as family...

if you goto Dean's... make sure u say hi to Dean and his Mrs Dean for me... i think im still the only Aussie customer they've ever had.. haha ;)

Thanks for the info martyaud,

I'm not too sure where in Chicago I'll go myself! I'm going for two weeks of work at Argonne, but will then head to downtown Chicago for a few days. I will try to get to those shops you mentioned, they sound great!

Richo, yeah, I may just head out to Anaheim....I think I found that shop in a search, but can't find it right now...lol.

Frank & Sons is open twice a week. They're open on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Heres the link:

I was gonna go there when in LA last year, but its hard to get to, you really need a car.

Bummer, I'll be there (in LA) on a Saturday, but won't have a car. I'll see if it is accessible by public transport, but it doesn't sound promising...thanks for the info!

I havent been to Argonne, but from Yahoo maps, I recognise surrounding suburbs... & it looks like your work place will be abt 30 min drive NW to naperville...
