Hi there. I need some advice. What is the best way to store my sets of cards? For example, I have the 2008-09 Topps Treasury set. Do I store it in a folder with Ultra-Pro pages, or put the whole set into a plastic box, like a 150 card box?

I need some thoughts and ideas. I know the boxes will save space, but is that a good way to store my cards as opposed to a folder?

Please help!

I recommend these: Count Trading Card Storage box (Cardboard) UltraPro.
For completed set storage I don't think you can get a much better option.
Keeping cards in plastic slips and in a folder you will still get minor discoloration over time.

Have both plasic sheets and Boxes. Sleeved cards in the nine pocket sheets are good. Base sets in the boxes are great storeage. but would be good to get comment from 10-20yr collector..great question as i live in a humidity area(store my cards as above ..in a lot of cloth)...hope to read more on your feedback. Done a lot of R and D but still not comfortable with my current knowledge...best: IN Folder. standing up. cards sleeved, sheeted in folder. in aircon. My best comment: As above, no aircon, since 1994 and cards still near mint. Those still in orig, foil packets still look brand new.

Ive found the best way to store base is in cardboard boxes, they can be easily flicked through and boxes come in counts from like 50 to 5000.
I store most insert sets in plastic sleeve and folder, some higher end in top loaders.
PC is in either one touches or toploader & teambag, you can also get wider cardboard boxes that hold one touches, screwdowns etc.

I basically store everything in Ultra Pro 9 pocket sheets and have done for 15+ years. I havent noticed anything wrong with the ones that have been in there the longest, and they have moved a couple of thousand kms over those years. I love having them in folders so I can look at them whenever I want without having to touch the cards. After all, whats the point of having a full set if you arent going to look at them every now and then?

It all comes down to personal choice.

I've been collecting for almost 20 years and I mainly store commons in boxes [some in folders] and inserts/signatures in folders.

No damage after all this time but I've heard that some cheap sleeves/plastic pockets can damage cards over time, but I've always used Ultra-Pro.

Also, it's very important that you keep your signatures out of light as some can fade over time.

Hope that helps

I would agree. I have most of my sets in 5000ct boxes. Best for storing large amounts. I do not get them out much and do not flick through them much. I also have a few sets in sleeves and in 9 pocket pages. Good if you like looking through them. Easy to just pick up and flick through and look, with having to get them out by hand. Also if you do not have many sets that is OK but if you have lots then you will take up a lot of space with folders full of cards. Problem with the 9 pocket pages is that if you notice, the pages do sag a little, so when you are sliding them into your shelf, you need to be a bit careful that it does not drag on the shelf. Also make sure there is nothing behind that might push into the pages and damage the cards.

I also store my Auto rookies and nicce auto cards in sleeves and pages, for the same reason that I can flick through them easily. A lot easier than if I stored them in top loaders in a box (but a bit less protection in sleeves than in toploaders or screws/magnetic holders.

Be careful of some of those plastic boxes as the corners are rounded and so can round the corners of your cards too.
