If you read my intro I posted a week or two back, I am back into the hobby after a close to 10 year break. I want to be able to manage my card collection on my computer, but not sure what applications are available out there. I have tried the online Becketts database, but you cant seem to be able to search through your private collection, so when you have thousands of cards entered it makes it hard to find a certain one. I do like though how it lists the prices once you have registered for that service.
So any ideas or suggestions? I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, but I did a search and couldn't find much, maybe I was searching for the wrong thing.
Interested in knowing what these apps are that you downloaded, can you post up some links.
I've tried 1 other, called Sports Card Tracker or something like that. Didnt like it.
But yeah Rick, I've been developing my own software to do exactly what you need.
I'm still not finished it, although I should be working on it during my time off work, so I'll see how I can go about getting it up and running to provide fellow Ozcarders a Demo version.

Thanks Mavsman, I would be very interested. Is it a Windows App, or something that you can run online? I am looking into how hard it would be to build a SQL database with a web frontend. I think this would be great to be able to give access to other people so they can see what you have to offer.
A windows app would be good, especially if you can export the database to HTML so you could build a web page with it.
Anyway, as I said, no matter what it is, I would be interested in seeing and testing what you have.
Today I decided to bugger it and build my own database to manage my cards. I decided to go with a SQL db with multiple web frontends.
I have a public web frontend that anyone can goto and view my database. They can see what I have in my PC as well as for Sale/Trade. There are also images of the cards (not all of them, only ones that are not basic commons) that can be viewed. I have a search engine on this page so the user can view just a certain player, set, game used or autographs.
I then also have two private web frontends, one for entering the data and images using a simple form, and the other for searching the database. I have this second private searching page as I will get more info out of the database that only I want to know like the price I paid for the individual cards.
So anyway if you want to have a look goto http://www.rickc.org/cards. Just ignore the poor design etc as remember I just whipped this up this afternoon, and I was learning HTML, PHP and SQL as I was going. I havent entered many cards yet, so don't bother searching for game used/autos or football yet. I'll get them up in the next couple of weeks. I'll put it in my signature when I have the site with the full info.
Any constructive comments or criticism is welcome.

Rick, that looks great mate, I just had a bit of a play with it, and I like it.
Online versions of Card Databases are always a great idea, that way you don't have to take the software with you, you can just look at it online.
I havent done any more work on my application of late, been busy building an application @ work, that they need. That, and I still havent re-scanned my collection yet.
Anyone else have anything other than Excel or Access? Anyone purchased any product off the net?
Thanks for the kind comments Mavsman. Im still working on it at the moment. Still adding cards to it and still have to refine some of the searches, but overall I am pretty happy with it. Hopefully, I'm only a few weeks away from having it done.
