Card Conditions

was flipping through an old school beckett earlier (1994), and came across their grading scale. thought id have a look on their site and found this:

now im wondering why there isnt some sort of guideline for this site. enough people have varying ideas on what they consider the condition of a card is.
bad idea? to hard to enforce? fair enough...just an idea.

Think there was a thread on this a few months ago, remember reading it. How about you change the thread to what people think each grade should be like this:
10 - no scratches, marks on surface and perfect corners. For autos, no smudges and parts of the auto cut off from the sticker. Then you can compile them and just put an average.

What do you think and do you have time for it?

Most people use a 7 point grading system which is Mint, NMint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Average/Fair ,Poor, they use about 11-12 point system thats more for professional grading of cards, not sure about you but i don't check my cards out with a microscope if it looks Mint via the eye, then thats good enough for Mint...
Also what i might consider Mint, some might consider NMint, how do you police that??

errr, thats the whole idea. having a universal grading system eliminates any individual ideas as to what a cards condition is. you dont need a microscope to see the difference between mint and nr mint. just use the guidelines in the link.
youd have to make it part of site rules though.

Too time consuming in my honest opinion.

If sell a card I usually use the 7 point grading described above, in a perfect world you could stick to a rigid grading system but it's all so subjective so it makes it too hard to police and too time consuming.

If you don't think it's mint then just describe the flaws as best as you can I reckon.
