Cap signed by Arthur Beetson: what should I do with it?

I picked this up from a local memorabilia shop last week, and am now thinking what's the best way to maximize my profit when I on-sell it? I was thinking of buying one of those perspex/glass display cases and putting a plaque and wooden base on it, but I'm just wondering if this would add enough value to it to make it financially viable? Its not an official "Kangaroos" hat or anything, but a Australian cap (gold and green. with coat of arms) that you might buy in a tourist shop, I suppose... It also comes with a shop COA. Would you personally go to the effort of the display case, or would it not be worth the bother?

So thats not you with these cheap hats on ebay already. ARTIE BEETSON SIGNED CAP IN DISPLAY CASE | eBay

Authentic signatures pity they are signed on something as good as toilet paper. If someone is going to sell a legend like Artie Beetsons signature for a price, make sure you do it justice, and respect, by having it on a quality piece of memorabillia that relates to rugby league or indigenous heritage.

Thats all I got to say about that.

No, thats not me, but thats pretty much the exact same hat I have, minus the case. That guys either bought from the same guy as me, or my guy's bought off him. As far as I'm concerned, a hat's a hat, and you're paying more for the auto. You've obviously got some deep feelings about Beetson, and I can respect that. But when you get that "Americana" set of cards having auto's from cheque stubs, I don't see the "cheapness" in the hats myself. But each to his own...

As an NRL collector myself.. I wouldn't purchase an already housed piece.. I like to have all of mine done by the same shop.. Some people aren't as picky as I am and would be happier to get one already housed.. So either way it's a hard call.. (I haven't gotten any hats - just footballs & jersey's)

Your best bet is a crazy roosters fan who buys anything and everything to do with them.. Good luck with the sale.. Let us know how you go..

I'm a crazy roosters and i'm sorry but making a dollar of a dead player now is down right wrong and just shows how low some people will go to sell stuff once the guy is gone. I'm sorry if i may offend and if your not doing that but i have stuff signed by the great legend and i will pass it down and tell people who this great man was for the game and his people.

As I said earlier in the thread, I have not offered it for sale currently, have not put a price on it, and was only interested in what people thought I should do with it display-wise WHEN I sell it. I also waited around 2 weeks from his passing to bring up the topic, but the topic IS current now, whether you like it or not... You'll also notice Beetson signed memorabilia has jumped in price dramatically ACCROSS the board, so I'm hardly the only "mongrel" who is trying to get a handle on what something in my possession may be worth...

Understand you are looking after cap and wondering if spent capital is worth protecting your memorabillia. Those cases are worth 40$ to 69$ on ebay. Talk to the pros. I can suggest Todays Collectables at caloudra, sunshine coast. They sell card and sport memorabillia. Talk to Darren and mention Ozcardtrader and my user name. Sure he will offer some advice on your caps(ball park) worth, protection/display etc. good luck
