Jimmy Butler is arguably the best player on the Chicago Bulls right now with Derrick Rose being the only other contender for that title. Butler has found himself in an awkward position on theChicago Bulls as last season has not worked out for them.

Many Bulls’ fans hate the idea of trading Butler away, but the Celtics may have the assets to keep both sides happy. Dan Favale reports there is a trade on the table that could send Butler to the Boston Celtics:

If this happens, you can be assured that the Bulls will be in full rebuild mode. Butler is one of the best players on the team and trading him away will only mean that the Bulls are looking to rebuild and put another team together.

This may be one of the most unpopular decisions the Bulls make, but it may be one that builds a brighter future for Chicago. After a playoff-less season, the Bulls must do something to boost the franchise in an upward direction.

Assuming Jimmy goes to Boston in that trade, that puts the Celtics in a great position to get Durant as well.
I mean, a lineup of IT4, Jimmy Butler, KD, Jae Crowder & one of Kelly Olynyk or Jared Sullinger (probably Kelly) with Marcus Smart, Evan Turner & Tyler Zeller off the bench is plain nasty.

And the Bulls would get some great depth to add to some already great depth in their team.
With their picks gained, I'd try and get Buddy Hield to try and replace Jimmy at the SG spot with 3rd, Cheick Diallo to contend for a forward spot at 14th & bimg center Damian Jones from Vanderbilt 16th.

Or they could shop both 14th & 16th for a higher pick and try and get Jacob Poeltl from Utah, who was built in the same way as Andrew Bogut and is one of my favourite prospects in the draft.

Thinking about it, the trade would be kinda even actually.

if they get jimmy and durant you can bet they will be upgrading across the roster. kelly and zeller are scrubs they need real bigs if they want to compete.

Kelly was a lottery pick in 2013. He has potential, and he can be a good bench player in his career

i dont rate him myself mate, he can spread the floor but thats about all he offers. i prefer front court guys that can defend multiple positions, run the floor and pass the ball, and i know that s asking a lot. Just saying if they got durant and jimmy players would be jumping ship to play with those two plus I.T. and they would have there pick

Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler is reportedly drawing trade interest from numerous teams slated to pick near the top of the 2016 NBA draft.

According to ESPN.com's Chad Ford and Marc Stein, theBoston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves are among those pushing to acquire Butler.

Minnesota Willing to Deal No. 5 Pick

The Timberwolves would package their fifth overall pick in June's draft for Butler, per Ford and Stein on Monday. Former Chicago head coach Tom Thibodeau is now the head coach and president of basketball operations in Minnesota, and the team's front office has made its interest clear to the Bulls.

Chicago is not actively shopping Butler, but it is listening to offers, per Ford and Stein. The team would want a hefty return that includes a top draft pick and an impact frontcourt player. Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News reported on Tuesday that the Bulls would be looking to acquire Andrew Wiggins in a deal for Butler.

Ford and Stein also reported that Providence point guard Kris Dunn is high on Chicago's draft board, and the team would likely target him should it move up. The Bulls have also spoken with Boston about moving Butler for the No. 3 pick.

Butler told ESPN.com's Nick Friedell in May that he wants to stay with the Bulls, and he believes he will be in Chicago when training camp begins:

Yeah, I think so. … I do think that with the year that we did have last season -- it's unacceptable. So you have to then, truth be told, you got to look at everything. I didn't do my job, so truth be told, can I help this team win? That's the question that's brought up. And I can't be mad at that. You can use whatever excuse you want to use, but we didn't make the playoffs. That's all anybody sees and that's rightfully so. So do I think I'm going to be here? Yeah, I think so.

An All-Star in the past two seasons, Butler added that he will continue to focus on basketball moving forward instead of being distracted by trade rumors.

The 26-year-old averaged 20.9 points and 1.6 steals per game last season.

Butler is a dynamic two-way guard who would fit in well with Minnesota. The team needs another scorer in the backcourt who can take pressure off Wiggins, should he remain, and open up the floor for Karl-Anthony Towns and Ricky Rubio.

Butler is also familiar with Thibodeau's system, so the swingman could become a veteran presence who can help Minnesota's young core buy into its coach's principles.

Boston would be a fit, too, as it needs a wing who can hit outside shots. The team would likely have to trade Avery Bradley or Marcus Smart to make room for Butler in the backcourt.

Chicago missed the playoffs last year, but it is too early to trade its best player and rebuild after one season with head coach Fred Hoiberg. The Bulls should build around an established star like Butler instead of jeopardizing their future for unproven prospects.

Jimmy Butler. As coach and team president, Thibs is reportedly willing to part with the ‘Wolves’ No. 5 pick in this summer’s draft to bring Butler to Minnesota. But the Bulls are likely to demand quite a bit more in return for a player of Butler’s caliber.





It certainly has to be a tempting proposition for Thibodeau, but it also seems like madness to give up on a player with Wiggins’ potential this early in his career. One of Wiggins’ biggest strengths has always been his defense, and Thibodeau is precisely the right coach to nurture that development. Look no further than Butler himself for evidence of this. Butler also began to flourish offensively under Thibodeau’s tutelage, and while Wiggins has shown early acumen in that department, he still has tremendous room for growth.


The Cavs gave up on Wiggins for a more established star before his career even started, and that’s looking more and more like a mistake with each underwhelming performance from Kevin Love during these playoffs. It’s nearly impossible not to imagine how much better equipped the Cavs would’ve been to face the Warriors with a potentially-elite perimeter defender and slasher like Wiggins in their lineup.

It also bears mentioning that it’s Butler’s recent diceyness behind the scenes that’s found him on the trading block to begin with. Though Butler and Thibs have a relationship that goes back relatively far, it has to be something that gives the ‘Wolves’ front office pause, given their young and impressionable core. The risk and the price-tag attached to such a deal are simply too high.

I'm not sure the Cavs would find a shortage of teams happy to take Love at that price. He can still give you plenty.

Minny would be nuts to give up Wiggins and I don't think they would. But they have a couple of guys they could throw in.

I'm intrigued by the Rose trade talks, a team could use him, he's far too inefficient for my liking but someone will bite for sure.

Bulls may be cleaning house by the sounds.

What would Rose to the Jazz for maybe Exum + a pick do to both sides?

Apart from keep the bulls internal full time knee specialist in a job a while longer.

the other name that keeps cropping up for the Bulls is Nerlens Noel as they will likely need a big man
