Got the opportunity to look through the 2007 Bulldog player procedure manual. Somebody I know owns this so its not available for sale. Unsure how they came upon it.

It is about an inch thick and covers a range of topics

thought some people on here might like to look at the autograph policy

I bet all the 1200 items weren't signed
Nothing about avoiding people on push bikes

Well that's interesting, all these sig pig's make it hard for the decent fans.
I live like six hours away from Sydney so when I do go to a fan day I like to think I can have a fair share of signatures sometimes I do sometimes I don't.

that is an interesting read, i hav always colelcted Sharks Autographs for my own PC and sometimes for mates who cant attend fan days but i have never thought to get extras for sale

I look to get a jersey signed by the squad each year and do the cardboard trick. I do this to make it easier and quicker for the players since I appreciate their time. Not sure how this means that it will end up on Ebay. Might have to rethink this. I also buy the jersey from the club shop so the money stays at the club.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting it. I feel very uneasy about a directive to sign under nicknames etc, or to purposely lessen the quality of signature, it is a bit of a smack in the face of fans, but I can understand the reason for it even if I don't agree.

These guys who sign in huge volume, must be easy to identify when it becomes a habit. Perhaps they could hire a security guard whose main job is to spot profiteers (even having access to video surveillance to catch people waiting in mini vans lol). I personally don't think anyone should be able to get more than one of the same card signed (no offence to those that do). Fans are the life-blood of a sports player/club's career and I see providing genuine signatures as a responsibility that comes with the job.

At the end of the day it sucks that people abuse the privilege, we all want the sig pigs gone etc etc, but at least the market they create on Ebay helps build the sport of RL. Everything for sale on Ebay is an advertisement for the sport and probably helps build its fanbase.

Interesting that the two players specifically mentioned (SBW & Hazem) did indeed shorten their sig in around 2007.

Geoff, could you get a copy of this for me if possible.

Sorry mate not possible. only had it in my hands for a few days for a read and returned it as its the only one they have and didn't really want to let it out of their sights.

Interesting read. Especially the bit where they have to make themselves available after the game at away games.

Josh Morris is someone who comes to mind when it comes to shortened signatures. JMOZ

Good to have a read of this, I no as a collector of 20 or so years, it's definitely getting so much harder for anyone to get an autogragh these days, I think there should be a post on here to name and shame these poeple that purely Only get sigs to sell, it shits me sometimes when I can't get a player cos someone not only hands them 10 cards or more cards but they give them all the same cards, and poeple that can't even buy a ticket into the gate to watch the footy , and wait outside for a sig! I could write another 1000 words on this but won't, I am first to put my hand up and say I try and get a few extra cards done, to trade for players that don't mate it up here or are injured or whatever? But it's becoming so hard when it only take one time to miss a big name player , then a new series comes out then there's another 5 or more cards for that player to get signed

Perhaps if you want more than 1 item signed you should have to buy a membership for that team. Parra offer non ticketed and interstate memberships etc. You then need to hang your membership around your neck where the players can see it. Then they know you are a genuine fan and take the time to sign a few extra items for you. This can be explained in your membership documentation and used to entice the sale of more memberships. If you have no membership the player can say "sure mate but I can only sign 1 item since your not a club member, why don't you join". If the player feels nice they can sign more if they want.
This would still be open to misuse eg borrowing someone's membership card but it would thin out the piggy's or they would have to buy a membership for each team. That would load down the backpack.
If this was the norm across the NRL the players would know the standard and they could tell the pig's this with the knowledge that they would already know this and not feel rude. They would get sick of hearing it 50 times a weekend.

I like the idea of the membership but there is nothing stopping the Sig pigs from also buying the membership. The eBay sellers are opportunists and will use any advantage they can to get "STOCK" to sell.

yeah but they will have to buy 16 memberships plus ones for their lackeys.
Remember they think it is their right to shove a pile of cards in front of someone and will not be happy

Why don't the clubs, NRL and ESP get in bed together and supply cards to the clubs and players can sign them and then hand them out to members/fans on game day?

Then the players without cards - like business cards to hand out - would be WTF? Where are my cards to hand out. So in the end, bigger common sets.

Or clubs just print their own, have em signed or not, and saves time, stress etc.
