Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Running back Trent Richardson of the Cleveland Browns is the Week 2 2012 Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week for games played September 13-17, the NFL announced today. Richardson tallied a game-high 109 yards rushing and one touchdown in the Browns’ 34-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Richardson also caught four passes for 36 yards and another touchdown.
Richardson was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com. The other finalists were punter Johnny Hekker of the St. Louis Rams, quarterback Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, quarterback Ryan Tannehill of the Miami Dolphins and quarterback Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com throughout the month of January. The Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual NFL Honors awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.
