I know there are a few boxing fans out here, but for anyone else that might be interested, Armenian/Australia Vic Darchinyan just became the first man in history to unify the wbc,wba and ibf 115lbs titles.
He came to the party with the IBF title and was huge underdog to beat "ring techinician" Cristian Mijares. Vic a known slugger with little defense suprised everyone by outboxing and eventually knocking out the fancied mexican. Darchinyan was well ahead on all cards and had the mexican down in the first after landing a vicious uppercut. He did seem to tire a little in the later rounds, but in the ninth he landed a huge left hand and the ref didnt even bother counting.
If it turns up (and im sure it will) i will link the KO from youtube.
Yeah, ive heard a couple of rumours about Pacman Great boxer, wonder how hes gonna go with moving up so much weight to fight De La Hoya?
Congrats to Vic, written off by almost everyone and showed them all! Has concrete hands, one of his last oppenents is still not the same after their fight.
This is a huge win (for Aussie Boxing) and the odds for Vic would of been sweet.
On a side note this reminds me of the Kostya vs Zab Juddah fight, i loaded up on Kostya after doing a few hours of research on both guys and the opponents they had previously faced. Kostya was paying 2.90 and lets just say i jumped higher than anyone in Kostya's corner .
Ahh the good old days (single and bet what i wanted ).
i wish i would have.... there was the risk of vic getting well and truely outboxed, but his skills have improved no end, and with that concrete left hand he was just too much
