hello everyone. I have been quiet on the card front for some months now, but i just had to come on and chat about one of our very own boxers for just a minute. Whilst he isn't a house hold name (which is sad) considering he has fought and beaten much better fighters then green and mundine combined, Michael "the great" Katsidis travelled over the England to defend his interim world lightweight title against heavily favoured and unbeaten Kevin Mitchell. I managed to drag myself out of bed to watch it and couldn't have been happier when Katsidis imposed his will and stopped the Brit in the 3rd round.

Did anyone else manage to catch the fight? Would love yo hear your thoughts. Time to get behind a fantastic action fighter from Oz who isn't afraid to mix it with the big names.

I missed the fight but I got told about the fight on Friday by a Greek collegue, i looked at the odds and thought 2.00 for a title holder but outsider was very good. Not knowing much about the fight i didnt touch it but for Katsidis to beat an undefeated at Upton Park (UK) in front of a huge local crowd supporting your opponent is Huge. Hats off to the young man, hopefully he keeps going and collects a few more titles

i would just love to see Australia get behind him. He is a great role model, and was nothing but a gentleman in his post fight interview. Just annoys me that 90% of Australians wouldn't know who he is, but all of them know about mundine and green. Same goes with Vic Darchinyan, that poor bastard unified a division and still isn't a house hold name.

The prob with Vic is that he isnt home grown (a little like Kostya). I dont know much about Katisidis but atleast he was born in Aust (Macedonian background). Sadly he will have to win another title to make the news as boxing isnt glorified in the news but when controversy hits the media are all over it.

To win away is awesome, but critics are skeptical that his fighting style (always forward) will leave him vulnerable, time will tell but so far he looks the goods.
