yep just before the game they will be confirmed. If it's a wicket that could suit spin later in the match they will throw Beer into the equation, if not they will go for 4 quicks like they did at Perth. I'm assuming Katich is back in and Ponting says he's all good to play.. We need part time spinners i think, that's why North was handy, maybe Clarke and Katich should have a bowl along with Smith if Beer doesn't play.. Strauss' weakness is Left-Arm spin and the same for KP so why not play Beer?
Same team as Perth, England bring in Bresnan for Finn...
Watson dropped twice before he even scored, only made 5, should have made the Poms pay for those dropped catch's... Hughes again failed, hopefully Katich is right for Sydney... Big test for Clarke he needs a big score along with Ponting....
Ponting will retire after this series now, as he said himself, players will retire going on their results in this series.
What frustrates me is that junior cricketers can be patient and leave outside off until they get the ball to hit, from watching this crap, International cricketers try to make something out of balls outside off and edge down slips throat. Watson, Hughes, Ponting and Clarke, learn from Mike Hussey, you don't see him fishing outside off stump much do you, leave them!
I dont know Warney. Couple of those wickets were quite straight and they swung last minute. So the balls were there to play at.
Don't sell the England bowlers short they are bowling well.. What Aus need to do is work out how not to edge the playable balls (if that is even possible).
Maybe bat closer to the off stump? so if it is swinging away from them they know it will definitely miss. and if it is coming at their pads they flick if away on the onside instead of playing a defensive block that hits an edge.
Agreed. That is why I said give the English bowlers some credit their bowling well. Hence why the batsmen need to find some way of defending against that if at all possible.

It is a shame we are batting 2 short, you can't tell me that Phil Hughes was the best replacement opener and Steve Smith the best replacement No. 6. Wouldn't mind the selectors giving us at least half a chance to make a decent first innings score.
i'm not sure why they picked Hughes, he was out of form in state cricket so why pick him in the Ashes?? Coming from a WA perspective we have 3 guys that are in form and all have opening experience, the guys i talk of are Robinson, Davis and S Marsh...
