Boxing Day Test Squad Announced

i thought ponting was injured? and who is hughes replacing?

Perhaps a quick click on the link in the first post will answer all of your questions!

Phillip Hughes has won a recall to the Australian squad and is on standby for Ricky Ponting while Peter Siddle has also been included in the 13-man outfit for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan. Hughes has not played a Test since being dropped after two games in the Ashes series, but has convinced Andrew Hilditch's panel he is the man to replace Ponting if he does not recover in time from the left elbow problem he suffered in Perth.

Brett Geeves by the looks of it

Australia named a 12 man squad for the last test in Perth

Simon Katich, Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Marcus North, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Peter Siddle, Doug Bollinger, Clint McKay.

13th man would have been Hilfenhaus but he was still injured.

So it's pretty much Hughes in to cover Ponting in case he can't recover. Otherwise it's an unchanged squad.

Read this....Bradman would be turning in his grave....

Ponting, who was struck trying to duck a Kemar Roach short ball, hopes to play but the selectors are being cautious after a run of injures. The physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said Ponting, who has been in a hyperbaric chamber to speed up the healing, was having on-going treatment for the problem. "We'll need to wait until he bats at training later in the week to determine his fitness for the Test," Kountouris said.

And here it is - 13 names

Ricky Ponting (c), TAS
Michael Clarke (vc), NSW
Doug Bollinger, NSW
Brad Haddin, NSW
Nathan Hauritz, NSW
Phillip Hughes, NSW
Mike Hussey, WA
Mitchell Johnson, WA

Ah, dammit! I was going to complain there's no Queenslanders in there, but then I looked at QLD's squad.... WHO? Good to see Hughes back in, as I didn't think he done a WHOLE lot wrong to lose his place in the first place. I spose he hadn't been in the team long enough to be considered an incumbent. They seem to be sticking with McKay at least staying in the squad.

If Hilfenhaus was Ok I would have Hilfenhaus, Bollinger & Johnson as our main bowlers.....Siddle doesn't take enough wickets for my liking.

Well if i just took his performances from his 2 matches in Australia this year he has been shocking and hasn't been taking wickets so i have to agree with you there, i think he is like Jason Krezja in a way. The reason why i say this is- Siddle seems to bowl better overseas- it may be his style that suits overseas conditions etc etc. This is exactly the same as Krezja, i was talking with Former Aussie Off-Spinner Bruce Yardley (down at our club) and he agrees with me. His action suits the wickets of the sub-continent- but when he comes back to Australia he gets smacked and doesn't get wickets, and as Bruce said he is then 'Very' Predictable for the batsman who can score off him with ease. Maybe Siddle has to begin to adapt to the Australian wickets to become more predictable. Just my view:v:
