Well I am offended by this by Heinz!!!!

Heinz is playing ketchup | The Daily Telegraph

IT IS enough to make Kevin Rudd shake his sauce bottle. Or at least stir a dead horse.

The term "tomato sauce" could be lost to future Aussies with Heinz, for the first time, advertising ketchup on TV.

In a move Dick Smith labelled "disrespectful" to the Australian culture, Heinz has unveiled a new national ad for Tomato Ketchup, which they say is thicker and has spices and more tomatoes than tomato sauce. "They don't give a stuff about Australian culture or our way of life," Mr Smith said.

"They've basically said if we have one common label and ... call it ketchup all around the world, that's the best way we can make money."

The Heinz website said that Ketchup is a "classic American icon that has been a part of families' lives for more than 130 years".

Channel 9 star Scott Camm said the term tomato sauce would be lost to future generations.

"What, are we gonna start walking down the sidewalk?" he said.

"They're infiltrating us - it's not our way of life."

We're not Yanks, SAUCE SHOULD STAY!!!!

This is doin Aussies proud, more like it!!!!!

National Thong Day!!!!

All this over a name?

Didn't everyone know that there is Tomato Sauce and Ketchup? They are different. They call theirs Tomato Ketchup because it is Ketchup, a specific type of the generic tomato sauce.

Why all the newsworthiness......it is just giving them free advertising.

Is Heinz the only brand of sauce on the market? Isn't the purchase of a non-Australian product more disrespectful to Australian culture when there are Aussie products on the market? Buy local.

We use White Crow, which I'm guessing will still be called tomato sauce. Although being a Yank, I still call it ketchup half the time.

And with the passing of Tomato Sauce we will also see the passing of good ol aussie rhyming slang...no more 'pass the dead horse' being heard at aussie dinner tables

I wouldn't say direspectful  Australia isn't exactly dominated by aussie products, only here and there.
That's not the point either, most thongs aren't made in australia but their ours, just outsourced production cause of cheap labour.
Never heard of White Cow! And I thought Heinz was aussie. So if their yank owned yeah they can piss off then and I'll look for some other sauce then they can keep their catchup

The media always will find a way to fill the pages though, gives us something to talk about!

Thongs. Enough said. I am Australian. I hate thongs and seeing peoples disgusting feet. Whether it's sauce or ketchup it tastes exactly the same. As far as i'm aware, these companies are only partially Australian owned at best. We live in a GLOBAL world now, cultural quirks will all merge together and the whole world will end up either Americanised, Chinaised, or Muslimised!
