Don't you love it when one person starts a rumour about how many of a particular card there is and people fail to see it as a rumour.
Take for instance this year press pass. Some autos are in red ink. Everyone is telling me that the Havlicek red ink is one of only /25. So can someone please explain to me after keeping track of sales and buyers etc that there has been 30+ already on eBay itself. And we all know there is life outside eBay so there is bound to be ones still sealed in boxes or pulled and sold/traded thru shops/shows etc that stay in PC's and never hit the secondary market again.
People still buy this bullshit though and command premium after premium for stuff based on what??
Good question. I personally don;t know much about print runs if not printed on the card. And actually find it quite amazing how people find out things like adhunt's Lebron that says Serial #/100, but apparently only 25 were produced? Or the Gerald Green auto I bought off Cowboys when he suggested there probably wasn't the full #/99 suggested on the card in circulation. How does one really know?
Hahaha thats a classic...I love it when sellers use half truths and add their own spin to try and build up the price on the cards they are selling.
Especially when a card like Ultimate Signatures set are listed as SP. Ive seen some auctions saying that the card was SP to 10 or less....and at the same time there are more than 10 of them are on ebay.
Based on the fact that many people now like collecting cards not because they like the design, the brand, the player, the team etc., but because its rare and nobody else (in the case of 1/1) or very few other people will have one... Its seems to me that a lot of collectors now to brag about how they are the only one to have a certain card
I'm not sure how much we can trust Beckett but according to the latest the Hondo's don't seem to have any sp print runs. And I think it says the Nance is /32 J.
Take the 04-05 UD Sweet Shot Signature Shots Autos..
None have numbering, and the Blue versions are "said" to be #/5....
I've only seen 1 (mine) and have seen only a SMALL (about 3) amount of the Whites, a bit more of the Reds, and plenty of base (Orange).
I wish Card Comp's. would either number them during production, or SAY there's only XXX amount of them, without being numbered.
I must add, that for me to pick up the Blue Sweet Shot, the seller was obviously none the wiser about the SP'd amount, as they failed to use it in their listing, and were probably asking themselves questions after I hit the BIN about 10 mins after it was listed...

See this a fair bit with the Gilbert Arenas 02-03 UD MVP ProSign auto. It actually lists in beckett for $15, but people still advertise them as SP auto's that are limited to 10! lol!
A few years back, I had two Jimmy Bartel Geelong draft pick sigs, numbered 37. Of course, after reporting this to Select, I was encouraged to return the product to them due to their 'oversight' and receive some replacements, several of which were VERY handy additions.
The red ones were selling for up to $40US whilst the blue were around the $20US mark so yeah the red sell better. Seems though people have smartened up as the red pop up just as much these days as the blue.
