Got a call back on Thursday afternoon from my ticket accountant for the Pistons that indicated that the Detroit Shock would be playing a playoff game at our school here at the EMU Convocation Center for possibly 2 games. I got the call indicating that she had free tickets to give out to the Pistons season ticket holders for one of the games. I took a look at the rosters to see if there was anyone worth trying for and seeing that Bill Laimbeer is the head coach of the team, I found it way to hard to pass up another chance to try for Laimbeer who would only be 5 minutes away from where I currently reside at school here.
After when I thought it over for 5 minutes, I decided to take the free ticket and give it a try to see if I can finally get Bill Laimbeer. I was counting up all the times I have seen him in the past where I have been unable to get him. It comes out to 10 tries where I have attempted to get him and just have been unable to. It includes the days he use to do the Pistons TV broadcasts, and the Detroit Pistons 50th anniversary special ceremony game.
I was reviewing one of my threads I had from last season and I had this to say from the "Pistons vs. Knicks + Detroit Pistons Legends 4/8/08!!!" thread on Bill Laimbeer:
With most of the odds against me, I knew I had less then a 50% chance to get Laimbeer. I put it around a 25% chance I might be able to get him. Besides of what I said above, I have heard other horror stories about Bill Laimbeer's signing habits in the past. So I guess I was not the only one that has had trouble trying to get him in the past.
Well I did arrive to the EMU Convocation Center early Sunday afternoon and did get my free ticket. My first 2 attempts to run down to the Shock tunnel where you can wait to try for autographs before the game apparently had security in a uproar. They brought ushers from the Palace to stand at every section at the EMU Convocation Center. After my first 2 attempts started an uproar, I just simply ran around the concourse looking for an opportunity to run down to try for autographs. My 3rd attempt to get by to get down near the tunnels did evantually work and after I was able to get by one of the ushers standing at one of the sections, no one really cared after that as long as you acted like you know what you were doing.
Alright after getting through the security mishaps at the EMU Convocation Center along with knowing about Bill Laimbeer's signing habits, here is what I ended up getting and also how my 11th attempt to try to get Bill Laimbeer turned out:
Shock
Katie Smith 1 Ticket Stub
Pistons
Rick Mahorn 1 card
Then after 4 years of failed attempts to try to get him, during the security mishap I witness him just simply walk in as usual. I saw him walk back out again. The 2nd time he walked in, he actually stopped to sign for 3 people which is the first time I ever seen him stop to sign before a game!!! The first 2 people he signed opposite rail of where I stood at. The 3rd person he signed for he came to my side of the rail as I was the only one standing there. I proudly present to you all this result:
Bill Laimbeer 1 card!!! (Took me 11 attempts over a 4 year span to finally get this former Detroit Pistons player!!! I have never been so happy before over getting a card signed of a former Pistons player ever LOL. This card will be for a Pistons set that I am working on and it took me 4 years to finally get it. I guess having only 3 people standing there before a game trying for autographs does help improve the odds of getting a tough signature.)
I also got a scan of this signed card to and here it is finally lol:
4 years and 11 attempts later produces this result lol.
That is all I have to share here from this event back on Sunday. I will look forward to reading anyone's comments if they got any. Thanks alot for looking!!!

Bill Laimbeer is still as tough as always. At the game, I saw him sign for 4 people total; 3 kids and one guy. I was real close to getting him after the game but he said no to everyone and was rude about it. IDK if I will ever get this guy in my lifetime lol....
