Ok guys -
So I busted another 3 boxes today, which I then followed by reading a few posts about which boxes were the best value to purchase.
So after going nuts since returning to the hobby in the past 6 weeks & spending about $1500 a week - I put some thought into my best value boxes overall to bust.
My criteria includes enjoyment factor, look of the cards, feel of the cards, box price, base card/set value, likelihood of building a set w/inserts (obv exquisite is not something one can buy all the time for example), hits per box, Players signed to each brand etc
Here is my 8 favourite overall boxes to bust: (no matter the price)
8) Panini Certified 2012/13 ( Sensational looking cards, got some decent jersey cards but a few corners damaged & no major hits as yet, however I see these as increasing in $$$ over the years for their unique & eye catching look/feel)
$160 delivered
7) Panini Preffered (higher if cheaper - just haven't gotten value personally from these boxes YET.. Although grist fun to bust & I love my booklets!!!)
$195 delivered
6) Panini Classics 2010/11 (great look, lots of variety & great inserts, though prob not enough of them)
Hooby box $118 delivered
5) Leaf Metal 2012/13 (Always good value although pricey, I can't see how you can go wrong on a case - cards are always of top quality & the odd gem is about which makes them alluring)
$210 Delivered
4) Panini Past & Present (unique looking cards, great detail & cool base set. Good mix of inserts & value in terms of auto or hits per pox! At $56 you just can't go wrong!)
$56 or $60 delivered for premier members of dacardworld.com
3) Fleer Retro 2011/12 (Pricey - however I scooped up the $300 on offer with DAcards & have loved breaking 2 of these babies. hoping my 2012/13 Case which arrives in Early July will bring me my Jordan auto, however I did pick up heaps of great beautiful cards like precious metal gems, Jordan Hardwood, Penny Showcase & Hoping my Singleton, Harris & Beal RC auto's pay off!
$330 delivered
2) Panini Select 2012/13 (Superbly made cards, solid & nice to feel & look at, like certified are however unlike certified, Select has a vast array of inserts like hot stars, hot rookies, prizm & more! Plus a select break is what landed me my fav non MJ card - Andrew Bogut 1/5 Auto/Jsy prizm
$165 Delivered
1) Panini Elite 2012/13 (fantastic look & feel, incredible value, variety of inserts, always value for money with hits & great patch/auto cards - at $115 delivered, easily my pic for overall #1 !!!
Others I like: Topps Signature edition 2011, Timeless Treasures 2011/12, Prestige 2012/13, Ultimate Collection 2011/12, Leaf - Best of Basketball 2012, ATG 2012 & Fleer Super box 2011.
UD All time Greats may be higher but I haven't opened my box yet, while seen many opened - I wanna wait for my experience!
Anyone wanna add to the mix???
