can send in padded bag with insurance. bag has to be big enough though to put the stickers on and you get charged the same as a box

i usually put insurance on item but it cost around 12 to 15 to do so far too expensive for a $100 dollar card. am trying to figure out if theres a option where u pay around 7 to 9 bucks for a registered mail.

i know i made sure when i sold my rodman auto on ebay i sent with insurance. i just put it in my post price and explained why

You can get an item sent international registered post (pretty much the same as Australia) You also get $100 of insurance, but you can't get any more...

Not sure on cost though...

EDIT: (there is a flat rate envelope that includes $100AU insurance free. Just not sure on the cost - It's a paper envelope too....)

Ok, I just asked the PO about sending stuff insured to the US.

Cost is approx. as it would depend on EXACT insured amount.

We went with sending a calculator (just needed weight) it was under 200 grams so it was:
$8.00 to post.
$7.75 to insure it up to $100 Australian.

Roughly $15.00 to post all up. It did show an extra $2.25 for Delivery Confirmation too.

Plus you need to complete a Customs Declaration.

Obviously for stuff that weighs more, and requires higher Insured amounts, you'd need to pay more.

Hope this helps.

I CAN get an exact cos on sending a card if you would like......

Thanks Mavs I needed this info today :-D

Good work! Any idea of how much extra insurance over $100AUD costs?? Damn Auspost website is useless and doesn't give rates!

Whilst we are on the subject of shipping, I have a few questions that I would like to ask the family, if gemz doesn't mind.

I am so lost with these Registered Mail method as my PO is a terrible communicator and so is his assistant.

1. Does Registered Mail packages, gets treated and enters those machines like the normal white envelopes? As far as I'm aware, Registered Mail envelopes doesn't come with a padded bubbles inside, so I'm a bit skeptical on sending cards with that method.

2. Because there is a limit of certain thickness a document(s) have to be when sending with Registered Mail, does Registered Mail comes with a bigger envelope rather than these normal letter-size envelope? Man, I dislike these rules as the freedom of sending 2-3 Exquisite cards or 2-3 thick cards that have to be stored using a screw down type cases to a US/International buyers is/are a headache.

So yeah, with all these troublesome requirements, so far on trades, I've had to either ship the cards via normal air-mail, which is a risk or by Express Mail, which is too expensive for me and the trader/buyer.
