Hi all. Is there anyone on here who has mastered the art of removing cards from graded cases/card holders?

I have a Michael Jordan auto, but want to put it in my MJ collection, and it's trapped inside this plastic casket of doom.

I have seem YouTube videos of people removing cards using pliers and meticulous placement of a screw driver. Not sure I feel confident doing this myself.

Is there anyone who could assist? Cheers.

If u start at the top corner (the furthest point from the card) you should have no worries.

(unless of course youre a bit of a butterfingers)

Just place the tip of the screwdriver on the ridge and hammer the handle of the screwdriver.

Make sure to do it on carpet to prevent the case from sliding out.

Crack it enough so that u can slide the tip of the screwdriver in between the 2 slabs
and gently twist it til u hear it 'crack'.

Now all u got to do is slowly slide the tip of the screwdriver around the seal whilst continuosly
twisting the tip of the screwdriver.

Youll probably only need to do this for 2 sides of the case til you can just pull it apart and slide the card out

If you use the search function there's a thread on here somewhere that Graham started.....it might be about PSA holders though....not sure.
Also check youtube!

^ and watch for cuts from the plastic edges!

I've done this ages ago, and it's not all THAT hard, just need to watch that you don't "buckle" the case when trying to pry them apart, which could damage the card.

Just to add to this, i've found breaking one of top corners off with either a pair of snips of a hacksaw to start things off makes the threat of slipping hammer/screwdriver to the face non existent ;)
