For advice of OCTers to be wary of what you are bidding on with ebay.
I recently purchased a carpet sqare with the MCG logo:mad:.
Fair enough if you bid on something you expect the picture displayed would resemble what you are bidding on and that the description would clearly articulate the condition of what you are bidding on. I was lucky enough that I got a refund on this but was out of pocket for return postage.:yellow:
I don't want to put people off obtaining a piece of history because a good piece looks fantastic, but just make sure you ask for a scan of the actual item before you bid. I would still love a piece of this carpet to mount with one of my treasures, but am afraid that all the good quality pieces may have gone and there are potentially just scraps left.
This item was unusable for any decent display due to the shocking state it was in.[-X

Happy hunting everyone and hope you have better luck than I did

regards Russell:thumbsup:

The sad thing is that photo makes it look better than it actually was.
It was disgusting. Normally I show some of my treasures off at the Post Office.
A real mail day showing, but on this occassion they were disappointed for me:(.
Anyway it goes to show you need to have a scan of the actual item and someone who honestly describes the actual item rather than a generic pack of tripe:shock:listing a picture that is nothing like what they will send.

take care

regards Russell:thumbsup:Lucky I am resilient:kick:

I'm scared of auctions with no pictures...

Once I won a Liam Anthony Rev Gem on eBay, when I received it I got a John Anthony Rev Gem. Now this worked out ok for me since I didn't have both and John Anthony is worth a lot more than Liam Anthony but if I had him already I wouldn't have been so happy...

Glad you got a refund mate.

I'd seen these actions before and considered a purchase, however it is assumed this bloke pulled up the carpet and got it for nothing then he is making an astronomical profit on these auctions, i just couldn't justify it.

Glad you got your refund Russ!

Unlucky Russell, I always ask for a pic anyway

As you said the pic is actually alright  but the edges do look a little scruffy :(
