Twisted ankle in a game when we had no reserves so I played through it. Also cracked the middle bone of the ring finger on my left hand during practice the week before the GF. Doctor told me no basketball for a month. Didn't listen, banged it up again but still played - we won.
3 ankle breaks and numerous ligament tears
That was playing 3games a week and training 2 times a week
Broke my ankle the first time a week before the State titles there was no chance i was missing that, our physio used 1 roll of tape so if i did go over it wouldnt do anymore damage then about a month later had the National Titles in Canberra so in between i had physio 3 times day 4 times a week to get it better......
Lets just say my ankle hasnt been the same since and that was when i was 16.....
Before i broke my ankle's i was dunking one hand, 2 hands and off both feet and i'm only 6'0 and the occasional lob pass....
Just thought I would ask the question and see who and what injuries you have had from playing basketball.
I just got my results today from the Orthopedic surgeon after getting an X Ray, CT Scan and MRI on my right knee.
I hurt it about a year ago in a game and went to Physio after thinking it wasn't all that bad. They said it was just my knee cap that was dislocating and that it was no biggie. They gave me some exercises to do a special brace to wear while playing, which I couldn't do for about 4 weeks. They said a scan wasn't necessary because it wouldn't change the management.
Then, 2 weeks ago, I 'dislocated my knee cap' again and felt REAL sore this time, and tender/swollen for a few days.
Well, the results today said:
The first time I 'dislocated my knee cap', it was actually a full knee dislocation and a complete ACL tear! This means, that after 4 weeks, I was playing again with no ACL! DeJuan Blair style!
Then, the recent injury, was a full dislocation AGAIN and a tear to the meniscus and MCL
Damn hey!
No ball for me, for MONTHS! I am starting the road to recovery tomorrow and booking the surgery to fix it!
Anyway, enough complaining from me, who else has an injury?? Or has anyone else done an ACL?
Unlucky dude. You never ever recover from surgery!! I had 3 knee scrapes from footy and 2 ankle scrapes from ball and you never recover. At least your in a state that's always warm because you feel it in the winter in putrid Melbourne!!
No injuries playing basketball, only from soccer. Pretty sure i have broken both my big toes on seperate occasions (never got them checked out at the time but i still can't bend them to this day) and done a AC joint in the shoulder. Never really got treatment for any of them but my shoulder snags every now and then and my toes are pretty much rooted.
Jeebus. I've dislocated my finger and had to get a splint made for it while chasing after a loose ball, but you guys are hardcore! Take care of your bodies you crazy cooonz!
I think an ACL would be the most painful thing to do, but I would guess when I broke my ankle and had a protruding bone through the skin would be close ! What was the best bit was my mate said you are fine, you would know if its broken ! then I peeled my sock away and there was the bone peeking through and he fainted !
