i just had to warn everyone away from a US ebay seller Ron Linton (ebay username 'gcrolo') who was particularly nasty to me.
i was hoping to bid on a dr j patch, shipping was $2 for US and Canada, and yet he quotes me $16 to australia for standard airmail! so i enquire in the nicest possible way why is he trying to rip me off? this is his answer:
"You have a right not to bid. If you have a problem, don't bid. Did I ever bother you? The choice is yours isn't? Ripping people of, am I forcing people to pay? Get a life, don't talk to me anymore. Blacklist my a$$. You must have been an abused child."
so a big **** YOU to ronny. please do not give him any business i beg of you. what a dickhead
hahahaha that's extremely funny, but if you wanted to negotiate you should've asked him how he was packaging, what type of mail, most of the time you can get them to reconsider they're postage unless the card is already selling high priced.
This is a situation where if you absolutely have to have the card, you bid on it win it and get it sent to a friend in the US (or maybe even one of our US-based forum members??) and have them forward it on for a much more realistic price.
Or alternatively we can all just spam his e-mail with questions about shipping to Australia!! (Not that I condone that sort of behaviour!!)
I find around 5% or less of sellers charge actual cost for airmail, 25% are reasonable and the rest make significant profits off postage
I know how you feel when missing out on a good card you wanted and didn't bid because of high shipping worse when it sells for under what you would have paid... sometimes I just send them an email at the end of their auction stating I would have paid double the end price - if they were reasonable. I get some nice responses too
sad thing that prick is kinda right, if we know the costs and still bid, then we have to accept the costs

i didnt bid justin, i just enquired about the price of shipping before i was going to bid. seriously, i dont mind paying a bit over reasonable cost, the dudes gotta make some profit, but to charge that much is basically saying "**** you, you want the card, you gotta pay my outrageous fees", very disrespectful, especially when he was chargign a measley $2 to US and Canada.
There is a guy in Australia selling a TJ Ford finest auto refractor and he had nothing about postage to Australia (price wise) so i emailed him. He said it would cost $9US to post to me even though we both live in Australia. The funny thing is he had a $5US starting price and got no bids, hes now got it up for 0.99US and still no bids.
Just goes to prove if you try and rip peolpe on postage in the end it will bite you on the ass.
lol i saw that auction.. he lived in sydney i recall and he would only send the card internationally. a great looking card which i was going to have a bid for.
