Just cruising around my office today.. Checking people in off the plane into their accommodation for the night.. Check-in is usually around 30-50 people who line up one after another.. I rarely look up from my folder.. Take names.. "Last Name?".. Mark them off and hand over the keys with a "thank you enjoy your stay"..

Today was no different.. "Last name?"..
"Webb"
Go to checklist.. "Webb, Carl".. I look up.. And there he is.. Ex cowboys (parramatta) player Carl Webb..
Damn it how'd that one get past my eye sight on the list this morning?, I thought.. "Enjoy your stay"......
"Next"...
"Buttigieg".. I look up.. YEP.. John Buttigieg.. What are the chances!!!

Checked everyone else in..

And just ANNOYED that I don't have a single Cowboys card in my room here at work I could get signed.....!!! And.. With the amount of people on site at the moment.. It seems weird to even attempt to have a conversation without looking like a 'stupid cowboys' fan!!

Its always the way, When you want them you can't find them. When you have nothing for them to sign they are everywhere.

Bugger! Don't you hate that. I had a similar thing with Terry Lamb recently. Also with Webb, I traded Girds signed Strike knowing I could get another, then he retired before the end of season.

I am 35...these blokes are all in their 20's (mostly) and I still get nervous. LOL!!!

I had the same problem Mischa... But I bought a folder and a convient carry bag, Spent hours going through cards... Made sure I had evey player, every coach.... Now no matter who it is, Where I am.... I have the bag with me and I have it covered!! When i get home, If I have removed something to have it signed..... I replace it!! JOB DONE!!! I don't miss out no more (unless I am too polite!!). Granted it is pretty easy for me.... I only have 10 years back log!!

Well.. Update.. Today.. I am at my desk.. Enter Carl Webb from the back of the office.. Stands right next to me.. And says "Hey Mirren"... We chat a little before he leaves.. One of my work mates told him I was a fan.. MAN was I embarrassed!! And everyone in my office was laughing all day about it "You should have seen your face when he walked in"...............

Come end of shift.. I head out to grab my dinner from the kitchen.. John Buttigieg is getting dinner at the same time as me.. Little bit of normal chitchat.. And I ended it with "I have all your footy cards.. I'm not creepy or anything like that.. Just putting that out there"..

They both leave tomorrow.. BUT.. It's been real nice seeing them!!
