ok im a victorian fan here and im gonna back up Mick Lewis here. For starters he hit the winning runs in the previous games to make this game worth watching!
yes he bowled terrible but after one effort come on, give him a go! Surely he is not to blame. Ponting did make the mistake of bowling his 10.
C'mon Brett Lee 7.5 overs for 1-68. Clark 6.0 overs for 0-54. They are shit figures as well.
i remmeber back early in the VB series i think it was or early in the summer, that Mick Lewis had to bowl the final over in one of our games...defending only 2 runs i think it was and ended up winning us the game!!
last nights game was just one of those wickets and the size of the stadium, i think my grandma could of hit a few sixes!!
we sorely missed McGraths accuracy!!
you gotta feel for poor old Bracken but!! great figures of 5-67 off his 10, but will go un-noticed because of 'that' dropped catch!!
guys guys guys! Don't take this wrong way!
I am not going out of my way to diss Lewis.. or Melbourne ppl
So don't get insulted!
For starters... He is giving away almost 7 runs an over for his stats!
Yeah that means as long as he continues to bowl for Aussie we can expect him to go for roughly 70 a game!
About the game where he 'supposedly' won us the game with his last over heroics!
It was not his goddamn bowling but two brilliant run outs by the AUSSIE FIELDERS in the last over and some choking from NZ that let us off the hook!
Lewis didn't win us the game so is that cleared up guys?
Ponting - is any one worried that he is making too many mistakes as a captain?
Am I the only one that is getting concerned?
Ashes toss etc

ok first of all Mick Lewis has played what under 10 one dayers for Australia? so to expect what you just said an over (7), through out his career is a bit harsh. I recall Brett Lee having the same probs when he first started out. But i suppose Mick's a Vic so chances are he will be replaced by a NSW 2nd's bowler, who will play plenty of games for Australia, despite not being able to perform at the the higher level.
Also i do recall Mick Lewis, recovering the ball off his own bowling to throw down the stumps to win us that game, am i correct????
How coudl ponting let him bowl out his 10 when he was going for nearly 12 an over. Clarke and Lee were only going for 6-7 and over!!!
And lee didnt even bowl out his 10. CRAZY!!!
I like ponting but i reckon he threw the game. He is a great batter and one of the best we will be alive to see, but maybe his captaincy should be reveiwed??

good points Cliffy, but in the end of the day it's a team game, and they all did there part as a team to win that game in the last over!!
yes, he has mad ea few mistakes, but i think every captain has at some stage or another. i think its just it is noticed alot more because we are expected to win so much!!
and the ashes toss debarcle....i think he was listening to his team more than he was his instincts and he did what the team wanted to do and not what he thought he should have done. yes that's still a mistake....but i think he is doing a great job with a relatively ageing team. the Australian cricket team is going through a very tough time at the moment trying to find the right balance, and not having warne and mcgrath at his disposal makes it very hard for him, especially when the 'back-up' bowlers aren't standing up to the challenge!!
IMO opnion we did a great job to come back from 0-2 down to being 1 ball away from winning the series!!
