For those that are interested, here is an update on all the Australasian O.S baseball players...
Eight Australians have signed their first professional baseball contracts – all of these players are expected to attended extended spring training and/or the 2207 Major League Baseball Australian Academy Program: Tim Atherton (Kempsey NSW) signed with Minnesota as a hitter; Angus Roeger (Unley SA) signed with Philadelphia as an outfielder; David Harriott (Yagoona West NSW) signed with Boston as a RHP; Lachlan Hodge (Gymea NSW) signed with the NY Mets as a LHP; Cameron Lamb (Mirrabooka WA) signed with San Francisco as a RHP; Ricky Rhodes (QLD) signed with Cincinnati as a pitcher; Tayler Rowe (VIC) signed with Minnesota as a pitcher and Ryan Searle (Narangba QLD) signed with the Chicago Cubs as a RHP.
Eight players have taken up contracts with new clubs: second baseman Adam Morrissey (Ourimbah NSW) has signed with Colorado following a single season in the Texas system; OF Chris Snelling (Gorokan NSW) was traded to the Washington Nationals; RHP Grant Balfour (Glenwood NSW) was claimed off waivers from Cincinnati by the Milwaukee Brewers; LHP Adrian Burnside (Alice Springs NT) signed a minor league contract with San Diego and accepted a non-roster invitation to Major League spring training; LHP Damian Moss (Sadleir NSW) signed a minor league contract with San Francisco – but has since left spring training (see above); RHP Chris Oxspring (Rouse Hill NSW) signed a minor league contract with Milwaukee and accepted a non-roster invitation to spring training; pitcher Dusan Ruzic (Darwin NT) used a great showing at the Claxton Shield as a spring board for a fresh chance with Cincinnati; LHP Matt Ryan (Grovedale VIC) was released by the Angels at the end of the season – he had signed with them as a hitter – and was quickly snapped up by Minnesota as a pitcher;
