Another one of my side collections is my collection of Asian players who have made it to the best league in the world. Most of them are from China, teammates of Yao Ming, such as Yi Jianlian, Sun Yue, Mengke Bateer and Wang Zhizhi. There's also the Michael Jordan of Japan, Yuta Tabuse who player a couple of games in the Suns jersey and Ha Seung Jin of Korea who have lasted good 3 years in the league before being demoted to the NBDL and eventually out of the US. The latest addition features Taiwanese American Jeremy Lin who fought discrimination and stereotype throughout his college career to make the NBA last year... anyway, here are their cards:

04-05 SP Authentic RC Extra Limited - a pretty rare parallel of this rookie card, I am still looking for many of his rarer cards which I believe are sitting in people's junk piles

01-02UpperDeckFlightTeamRCGold98B47of50.jpg

01-02 Upper Deck Flight Team RC Gold - not really that rare, 50 copies in the world, but once again I believe most are in junk piles or have reached the incinerator long ago. I need another 14 of his cards (mostly parallels) to finish this collection, any help would be much appreciated.

08 Topps eTopps - the worst Asian player (in my opinion) to have made the NBA, mainly due to marketing purposes.

10-11PlayoffContendersPatchesRookieTicketTeamLogo.jpg

10-11 Playoff Contenders Patches Rookie Ticket - Mr Lin's autos have been selling quite well, this one features a piece of manufactured patch

10-11PrestigeRC210DraftPicksRightsAutograph141of199.jpg

10-11 Prestige RC 210 Draft Picks Rights Autograph - one of his first 2 RC autos that were released

10-11AbsoluteMemorabiliaRCSpectrumSignatureGold077of199.jpg

10-11 Absolute Memorabilia RC Spectrum Signature Gold - more Lin auto

10-11RookiesAndStarsLongevityRCSignature331of599.jpg

10-11 Rookies And Stars Longevity RC Signature - more Lin auto

07-08ToppsCo-SignersRCAutograph.jpg

07-08 Topps Co-Signers RC Autograph - a pretty consistent performer in my opinion, let's hope he will get some reasonable playing time in Dallas

07-08ToppsLuxuryBoxRookieRelicAutographGold18of19.jpg

07-08 Topps Luxury Box Rookie Relic Autograph Gold - a rarer version of a neat looking RC auto jersey card

07-08ToppsTrademarkMovesTrademarkRelicInThePaintBlue06of25.jpg

07-08 Topps Trademark Moves Trademark Relic In The Paint Blue - a low numbered patch that is quite hard to find

10-11ClassicsBlastFromThePastJerseyPrime04of25.jpg

10-11 Classics Blast From The Past Jersey Prime - a many colored patch that would have been really really nice if the window is bigger

Overall, the cards presented may not be that exciting but many of these are quite rare and made great additions to my PC. Thanks for looking!!

Wow - some serious coin spent there! My GF is tryign to put together a Yi side PC and I can't find much value for him at all! Any dupes welcome! .....and don't forget about Rex Walters, apparently he has a Japanese background too so might be anoher guy to add to the side PC!

I love different PC's like this as it gives you a chance to see some different cards. I'm interested to see more so keep up the good work!

So is former Sonic Robert Swift, who now plays in Japan.

Unfortunately there isn't any cards of Wataru Misaka, a Japanese-American who was the first non-Caucasian to play NBA basketball (he played 3 games for New York in 1947-1948 averaging 2.3ppg on .231 shooting).

But back to Brian's cards. I imagine its super hard to get any parallel for non-stars, let alone guys who only played a handful of games.

Swift? He looks like Ronald McDonald! Walters did last about 7 seasons in the NBA for various teams so should have a few cards around - I had a few of his RCs so let me know if you need / want them Brian!

Some nice ones there, nice patches on the Yi's. But was Bateer flight team worthy??? Looks like a Luc Longley kind of build!

I am pretty sure he doesn't get too far off the ground... but he's 6'11 so he can almost dunk it just extending his arm.

Yes, I know baout Wat Misaka but unfortunately he was never featured on any cards... but to be honest, even if he was, I don't think I will ever get my hands on a card from 1947.

I just had a look at Robert Swift's wiki page and found out he is actually only a quarter Japanese. Rex is half Japanese and would make an interesting new collection considering he only has 122 cards listed on Beckett.com at the moment. But I think I will stick to what I have now for the while being.
